1.0 OBJECTIVE
To provide a guideline to check the health of every employee working in the
factory.
2.0 SCOPE
Applicable to all employees working in the factory.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 All employees should be examined by a qualified physician.
5.2 All personnel shall undergo medical check up prior to employment. The
medical check up shall be for fitment checkup for the job, which includes eye
examination, colour blindness, tuberculosis, skin and other communicable
contagious diseases.
5.3 In case a person found unfit for the job or affected by any contagious
disease, he/ she shall not be recruited.
5.4 The medical check up shall be done for staff/ workers once a year. Records
shall be maintained by HR department.
5.5 After the medical checkup, the doctor shall certify about the fitness of the
employee.
5.6 In case a person found affected by any contagious disease during the yearly
medical check-up, he/ she shall not be allowed to work and shall be advised for

further necessary treatment.
5.7 After completion of the treatment the employee shall be allowed to resume
his/ her original place of employment after obtaining medical fitness certificate
by a qualified physician.
5.8 HR department shall maintain required records or certification by the
physician.

Sop pre-employment medical examination
1. 1. SOP-Pre-employment medical examination DrAshok Laddha Occupational health

2. 2. Purpose Every person who is selected for employment has to undergo Pre-
employment medical examination to ensure objectives.
3. 3. Objectives The person selected should be medically fit to carry out the job for which
He/She selected. To ensure legal compliance To describe role of medical examiner
To get base line data regarding His/Her health and subsequently monitor it with periodic
medical examination To ensure that He/She is not suffering from any health
disorder/Deformity which may come in the way His/Her efficient working To ensure
He/She is not suffering from any contagious disease/infectious disease/communicable
disease which may be transmitted to other employee.
4. 4. Scope Applicant who are selected for job
5. 5. Procedure-1 After successful interview with personnel/HR Department candidate is
sent to OHC with letter mentioning the post being considered for. In OHC form in
English/local language attached with medical examination format is given to the
candidate which candidate has to fill up mentioning about His/Her past/present health
history /disease/illness/accident/employment in previous organization/surgery/family
history. After filling deceleration form She/he undergoes physical/clinical examination and
various blood /x ray test laid down as advised by the medical examiner.
6. 6. Procedure-2 Pre employment medical examination is legal requirement for all
employees, especially for those working hazardous/dangerous operations. Factories are
formulated by the state government under factory act., oblige such employees to have
their fitness certificate to work certified by factory medical officer/Certifying surgeon,
when they are appointed and periodically during the course of employment.
7. 7. Procedure-3 The person with disabilities—Equal opportunities, protection of rights
and full participation as per act. Record of medical check up, Fitness certificate, Legal
form and results of various tests carried out are recorded in pre –employment
form(physical or computerized) Results of clinical/physical examination and various
tests specific to selected job are reviewed by the medical examiner. Information
regarding His/hers fitness is sent to HR/Personnel department on fitness certificate duly
signed by the medical examiner. The Medical examiner is empowered to get opinion of
specialist, if required. Candidates who are interviewed at out station places are sent for
medical examination to outstation doctors at respective places for pre-employment
medical examination as per criteria laid down. The entire report to be sent to medical
examiner for issuing fitness certificate.
8. 8. Preventive health care advice/Measures As appropriate, The candidate should be
counseled on life style/communicable diseases/use of safety devices/information about
blood group The content of medical examination form and reports should be shown to
candidate and his signature obtained on the [Link] case of unfitness, a copy of medical
examination report to be given to candidate for obtaining second opinion regarding
findings, if required by specialist or competent authority.
9. 9. Tests Recommended The tests recommended for applicant for all types of job as per
annexure-1 Appropriate equipment's should be used for assessment Delegation of
technical work to unauthorized person must be avoided All findings should be seen
personally and recorded Ensure that blood samples/urine sample collected, tested and
reported upon belongs to the person examined Sop on Universal precaution to be
followed
