STARRY EYES SCARF

Materials:
 Worsted weight yarn; sample made with Lorna’s Laces
Shepherds Worsted
 Size “I” crochet hook
Stitches:
 Foundation Single Crochet (Fsc): chain 2, insert hook in
first chain of chain 2 (nearest slip knot), *draw up loop (2 loops on hook); draw through first loop (ch 1 made - still 2
loops on hook); draw through remaining 2 loops. Fsc made. Insert hook in ch 1 of previous stitch, repeat from *.

Row 1: Fsc 160. (Multiples of 4)


Row 2: Ch 2, turn.
 Half double crochet in next FSC (foundation single crochet).
 Draw up loop in bottom half of half double crochet, in the same Fsc, and in next 2 Fsc; (5 loops on hook) YO,
draw through all 5 loops;
 chain 1
 *Draw up loop through:
o Chain 1 just made (this becomes the eye of the star),
o Fsc directly below,
o and each of next 2 Fsc (for a total of 5 loops on hook).
 YO and draw through all loops on hook,
 Chain 1.*
 * Repeat from * to * across to last 2 Fsc.
 Half double crochet in each of last 2 stitches
Row 3: Ch 3, turn (counts has first half double crochet and chain-1).
 Half double crochet in next half double crochet,
 *chain 1, half double crochet in ‘eye’ of next star*,
 repeat from * to * across ending with half double crochet in top of beginning chain 2.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn.
 Half double crochet in top of next half double crochet.
 Draw up loop in bottom half of half double crochet, in half double crochet of Row 2, in next chain-1 space
and in next half double crochet (5 loops on hook),
 YO, draw through all 5 loops;
 chain 1
 *Draw up loop through:
o Chain 1 just made (this becomes the eye of the star),
o In half double crochet directly below,
o In next chain 1 space
o and in next half double crochet (for a total of 5 loops on hook).
 YO and draw through all 5 loops on hook,
 Chain 1.*
 Repeat from * to * across last 2 stitches (do not use next to last half double crochet in last star stitch);
 half double crochet in last half double crochet and 2nd chain of turning chain.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until piece measures desired length, then repeat Row 2 one more time; do not finish off.

Last row: Chain 1, turn. Single crochet in same stitch, and in each half double crochet and chain-1 space across.
Fasten off.

Attach fringe to ends of scarf, if desired.
