First Business
Upon entering the business, we did a lot of work on planning. We settled our time of meeting at
the TNB just to do the write ups on our plan and talked about on how it should be done. Well, at the start
of our plan it was not that easy because we argued on how we were going to set it, there were disagreements
on various concerns. But then we slowly broke down all the problems settled on our plans. We decided to
come up with different strategies that suits with our plans. We were almost done with our business but one
of the problems that we encountered was the computation of our business’ financial aspect, so we did the
computations again just to figure out what was wrong and changed it. We were almost done but our
implementation defense schedule has drawn near. Two days before our implementation defense, we set
again a meeting to review all the necessary information about our business that might be put in question.
We thought all the possible questions to our business and answered them just to be prepared for the
panelists. On the day of our defense, we were all nervous but remained positive that we will pass the
defense. When it was now our turn to present our business, we were all silent for a while but the panelists
were then prepared to listen to us. We started presenting the business but time to time, the panelists asked
expected questions but they also gave us suggestions on how we would handle them. They said that our
business is good but we need to revise some of the problems they told us and luckily we passed the defense.
We were all very happy because all of the other groups also passed.
We started now implementing our business, as what was written on our plan, we followed them all.
We bought all the needed materials and equipment. We established our business along Maharlika
Highway, Tuguegarao City. On the first week of our business, we made experiments and adjustment
because it was also our first time to use the machines that we bought although some of our members know
how to operate it. On the second week, we baked pandesal and sold at nearby stores and houses, it has
been sold out, and that put a smile on our faces just saying on our minds that we did it. The following week,
we added the amount of pandesal to be baked and sold it on different government offices, they’ve also liked
our pandesal but two months later, our sales gradually decreased because of the competitions with different
bakeshops near us, we had also limited time because the business location was too far with our houses and
also the fare on going to our stall is high. So we decided to have a stall in school, through the stall that we
bought to the previous implementers. We settled all the things needed in our stall and we decided to just
baked and sold it while we were going to rent a space for the mixing process. We finished settling all within
two weeks and then we finally opened at the school. With our two weeks operating in school, we decided to
add new products to our customers, like macaroons, cupcakes, hoping ube and crinkles. We were
successful on doing this because we use two marketing strategies which is the selling on our stall and
personal selling in class rooms and to different offices of the school. We also plan to have packed products
and sell it to our respective community. We implement this plan; there were many customers in our
community because they liked our product. Selling is the most challenging because some of the customers
change their wants and eventually will not buy on us but there are also customers that even though the sizes
of our products are changing they still buy on us.
We also had problems sometimes with our co members but all of those were fixed and we had
forgiven each other.
To us, bakers, when we move into the school we divide our group into two the bakers and sellers
and I was one of the bakers. Being a baker was not that easy because I needed to wake up as early as three
in the morning, then I will prepare to go Caritan Centro to prepare the dough and then we were now going

to school to bake the dough and also to prepared them to be sell. It is a very challenging job to me but its
motivates me every morning because as early as three I am being productive and it really helped me to
manage my time well. It was also risky because it is too early to go outside and I always prayed to the Lord
to take care of us and with His blessing we finished our business implementation safely and happily.

Road to success
When I heard that my course is BS Entrepreneurship I felt so sad and disappointed because that is
not really what I wanted. I also heard a lot of rumors like “BS Entrepreneurship bagsakan yan ng mga
bagsak” and that’s why I am having a second thought about my course. But our teacher told us what BS
Entrepreneurship is. And as time passed by I am starting to love my course and continued it until my fourth
year.
During my third year when we had a subject Business Plan, it was hard for me to choose what
business I want to put up. Then I decided to put up a bakeshop or a pastry shop. Our teacher grouped
those who have the same business. And thanks God that I and my friends are at the same group. We
decided to pursue bakeshop as our business and we decided to name it as 4A Bakeshop.
When Business Implementation came, we settled our investments to the business, through the
investments we used it for our business permits, we used it to buy machines that will help us in baking and
raw materials and the remaining money was saved for some purposes. Each member had their own task to
do. Our managers assign bakers who will wake up early in the morning, seller who will sell the products at
the stall or through personal selling, and financial officers who will record the sales and very operation. As
we went through our business there were some unexpected challenges or problems that came into our way
such as misunderstandings but we settled it immediately we set time to talk about the problems and listened
to one another. There were times that we do not have customers and because of that there were lots of
products that were not sold. We do personal selling by walking from our stall to different offices and
departments in CSU to find customers that are willing to buy our product. We also encountered losses. But
despite all those difficulties or failures that we encountered in our business we didn’t give up because we
have a strong faith and determination to overcome those shortcomings.
Through Business Implementation I have learned a lot about business and I already have
knowledge on how will I going to manage my future business. I also gained experience and improved my
skills.
As an Entrepreneur, starting a business is not really easy there are lots of failures that you are going
to encounter but don’t let that failures bring you down. Let failures be your motivation to success. As Denis
Waitley had said, “Failure should be our teacher, not under taker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is
temporary detour, not dead end.”

All I thought
When we were done in our business plan book and ready to implement it, I thought it is easier
than making a business plan to defend to the panellist. I thought it is the most enjoyable part of studying
taking up Bachelor of Science in entrepreneurship. All I thought that what we will only do is to make
product and sell it to the customers.
All that thought was only just an imagination, I expected wrong. The thought that it is easier to
make business plan was changed to harder. Yes, business implementation is the hardest part of studying that
I was encountered in my college life. It is not the most enjoyable but it is the most tiring part to do. It tested
my character towards my members. It challenged me to improve more. I thought I already mastered to be a
leader but because of business implementation it told me that my leading skill is not enough.
Business implementation tested my patience, understanding and self-confidence. Patience to
correct the bad habits of my members. Understand their every queries regarding of the operation of the
business. And self- confidence to explain them that every challenges we faced has a solution. It also helps
me to be more initiative, responsible and dependable. Initiative in sense that before the operation start
everything needed in the operation should be completed. Be responsible to every consequences of the
wrong decision made. And let the members that they can depend to me their problems and suggestions for
the business.
As a manager to this business, I experienced everything, good or bad memories. I did things that
were dangerous for the business. Distance is not a hinder for me to do my responsibility as a manager. My
whole school year this 2018-2019 was just focused to our business implementation. I learned a lot to this
course. It moulded me to be a good leader. It prepared me to the reality that I may face if I continue to
venture in a business. And it thought me that no all ideas I had in my brain can turn it to reality. Ideas are
very different to the reality. But don’t be hesitate don’t feel negativity once you encountered losses or
disappointment, there are always solution and a better way to surpass it.

“Pandesal po”
It is not that easy for an individual to start a business on her own. I can say that it is not that easy
based on my own experience. It needs time, effort, dedication, and courage to come up with an idea which
is suitable for everyone. With a simple idea that we have, we can make a big change in our life if we turn
those into reality. Just like what our group did. From a plan into implementing it.
Our first location was at Carig. Our business was not that suitable in that particular area because it
was far from our target customers supposed to be which caused us to incur big loss. Our experience there
was not that easy. We needed to go there as early as 6:30am just for us to bake something and sell it. During
Mondays and Fridays, we have a night class where we can bring our products with us and sell it inside the
class. While the other days in a week, we bake and go here in CSU to sell “pandesal with cheese”. It
becomes our daily routine. As days go by, we were no longer happy and got so tired with what we were
doing. Including the fact that we were just using the stall to bake with that amount of rentals. Our daily sales
can no longer sustain our expenses which forced us to do something about it. It was a long journey then.
Finally, we had decided to look for another location and we wanted to transfer our business here in
CSU to minimize our rental costs. During our opening, we offered them promos to attract more customers.
I can say that it was quite good compared with our sales before. The second day, it was not that much. And
as the days passed by, we are losing our customers maybe because we offer them the same product. We
only stay inside the stall and wait for the customers to go and buy. So we had decided to personally sell our
products in the CSU offices. Knock approach and say “Good morning po. Baka gusto niyo pong bumili ng
cheese pandesal” and yes I admit that at first, I was not that confident in what we are doing. But as I can
observe, they like it but not all of them. Some would even say, “bat ang liit?” which dragged my confidence
down again. A lot of feedback, positive and negative but we accepted it because they were helping us
improve our business.
Days go by and we were learning with all our experiences as we face the day. We were not able to
recover all of our expenses but for me, what matters most is our experience that we can use in our daily
living and can be used as our weapon in facing every challenge in our life.

Most of the people when you enter college would rather advise you to take up what you love and
your passion. As it leads student for a stable life and to have a permanent work. Back then, all I wanted was
to become a doctor. It never comes from my mind to enter in a business course. But here I am now; proud
to say “I am a student of Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship”.
Business implementation wakes me up into the reality. Learning does not only occur within the
four walls of a classroom, this course provides me the real context of what should be done outside the
classroom. Invest yourself, your time, money, and attitude as you deal the everyday business operation.
Honestly, it was never easy until the moment I understand it’s my responsibility to go with it.
On September 2018, we, the eleven partners opened a new business here at Cagayan State
University particularly in front of CBEA building named 4A BAKESHOP. We conducted researches
about the place for us to reach our customers and to meet their satisfactions through our products. Back
then, we were at Carig Tuguegarao City but the group has misunderstanding about the location which is very
far from everyone’s residents. As partners, we have to settle things and at last we have decided our final
location. Through that, it helped every member to work efficiently and effectively during our first months of
operation. We conducted a meeting on how can we accordingly distribute the task to everyone. As a baker,
we have to wake up 3:30am in the morning to mix the ingredients of the products and bake 6am up to 9am
or 10am. Sellers must be at the school 8:30am to start personal selling and other member should sell in our
stall. We have to take time managing and it was hard for us to adjust during our first operation. We were
asking customers to make feedbacks regarding our products and the way we serve them. We accepted every
positive or negative feedbacks for we know it would be a great help as we improve our products and
services. With our loyal customers, we have maintained their expectations and we tried to be better basing
from their honest feedbacks.
During the first day of our operation, the sale of our business was commendable up to its six
months. Sales of the business are not lower than PHP1000.00 a day and sometimes we can have not higher
than PHP 2,000.00. But during the second semester, the sale of the business was getting lower and lower.
Because we were affected with the internship of our loyal customers who are located at different places. We
all got alarmed on what plan and strategies to follow to avoid losses and we can still be able to increase our
profit. There are instances also that we can’t control and estimate the product to produce every day and we
can’t avoid having an unsold product. In that moment, we have to exert more effort in selling our products.
One of our strategies is to have a mass production every Friday and every member should sell five packs of
these products within their communities. Sellers conducted personal selling within the school; I and my two
partners arrived at plan to sell packed products at Carig campus and to the government sectors. With all
that strategies, we gained profits but we can’t deny the fact that it was not enough to recover the losses.
Experiences were great way to develop your strengths and weaknesses and challenge your
determination as person and as a group. We can’t avoid misunderstanding but as an entrepreneur you have
to consider everyone around you because you are all into one goal. Losses and mistakes are normal but
don’t fail to learn the lesson. This is not the last chance, after taking up this course could give us more
opportunity to venture into business three or five years from now. In that moment, we must be prepared
and don’t stop ourselves from learning. Innovate something that satisfies a need that would help the growth
of a community. Take full responsibility of all your action. I thank God as we finished our business
implementation, our family, our adviser, and my business partners for all the cooperation, guidance and for
believing that we can do it.

YES, Top 3 Reasons
1.
2.
3.
NO, Top 3 Reasons
1. Move to a new business - I will put up my own business into our community.
[Link] - I also want to focus on the mastery of agricultural business.
[Link] - I will help the farmers in our community by investing my money to the new technological
advances that would innovate products and to efficiently produce it globally.
B. What were your triumphs or accomplishments (Causes for Celebration)?
1.I was able to gain knowledge on how to run a business. The knowledge which will really help me in
starting my own business that deals on every aspect like on production, marketing and financial.
2.I developed a sense of motivation on myself with the help of the implementation. From this business, it
boosts me to venture my own business and give me also an idea on how to become really an entrepreneur.
3.I experienced dealing on different kinds of business problems and fixing them as well. On the first place
that I encountered problems, I think that the business will not be successful but as time goes by, we slowly
fix every problem and I am so happy because it is not easy to solve them but it is all are worth it because our
first business was successful.
C. Regrets and failures and wish to change the second time around
1.I’m afraid to take actions because of its cost – I wanted really to produce an innovation with our business
but every time I think of it, the cost comes after on my mind and questioning myself “Is this really worth
it?”. I became a negative person because always and always I care for the cost but never tried making it,
simply saying that I’m a conservative. This is one my regrets and I wish and I will really change this
personality of I’m. I will be now putting my own business and this learning from this implementation will be
my guide and motivation on taking every action with all its cost with decision, making
2. I did not put my full time and effort to our business. I did not so much focus on improvements and we
had many plans but we did not implement them. I want to change this aspect of mine when I will venture
with my business. I will focus more on my time with my business, on how will I going to make innovations,
improvement and to make sure that all of this will be implemented and monitored.
3.I fail to do all the marketing strategies that I suggested like the hiring of an employee with our business
that would help to sell our products outside school and to offer also our products to the sari sari store within
the city. I should also focus on my marketing strategies and not to be afraid to try because it is really a part
of doing the business, I just need to decide with a calculated risk.
D. Top 3 Experiences and Leaning Points you gathered in running your company
Organization, Leadership and Staffing
[Link] – organizing the business at first time was really difficult, I experienced being block mind
because I do not know how to start, on how the business will run. There are negative thoughts specially if it
is profitable. It was not that easy, until we came up with the plan and manage on how to run it.
One of the best thing that I learned in organization is how manage and adjust. As our professor always
saying and have been proven with through our implementation, is that every plan was not the exactly as it is
to be done, there will be always a change. Now, going back to our plan we are all excited with it because it
was almost perfect for me specially when we’ve computed the profit of course. Then we started running the
business, as time goes by were almost every day tired of selling and yet we do not meet our sales. From that
start we almost surrendered knowing how tough implementing it. then one day we started understanding
and managing every problem in our business, it difficult because as you manage a problem there will be
another problem arise. But the best thing that we do is we always think for a solution, we did lot of
adjustments to our plan. I learned how to manage and adjust to problem that we encounter and we did not
lose hope that we can make it despite of this problems because of adjustment and management.

2. Leadership – leadership is very important but being a leader is also difficult and because our business is a
partnership form, everything about the business should be told to all the members. What I experienced
being a leader is that I deal with personality problems not just to me but also to the members. We all know
that we cannot control others mind specially when we do not have a link to each other, we do not have the
same mindset and there will always be a conflict. And what I learned in leading other people is that I have
to understand them first because through this I build a connection with them. Leading is not just telling
what the members should do. They must be understanding first, well it’s not easy but do not quit on it
because for me it is the building block in becoming a leader.
Soon, when I will be managing my own business and will be having employees, I will adapt what I learned
with our 4A Bakeshop. I will have the connection on every employee because it will also serve as their
motivation on working effectively and efficiently which will lead to a profitable business.
[Link] – I learned that we should value the work given to us, we should have improvement every time we
do our job and also create a blend with our business. The connection of the members towards to the
business is very essential because it also helps us to be more productive with our respective job.
What will you change if you will do it all over again?
1. Organization – because of the experienced on the business, I want to be always an optimist person that I
will always find ways on how to deal with problem with calculated risk.
2. Leadership – I want to be always guided with the rules that we’re going to settle and strictly follow all
them.
3. Staffing – I want to emphasize on the member relationship towards the business and on how will going to
make connections to each other prior to the business goals.
Capitalization, Investments, Resources
1. Capitalization – my capital was given by my sister, my uncle and my cousin. It’s not easy to have the
10,000 Pesos capitalization because it is big amount. I told them that I will not waste the money, I will work
on the business with all that I could just to bring the capital back and also to have profit out of it.
I learned that the capital was the biggest motivation for me, because money is not easy to be gain that I
should really work hard to earn profit. And with this motivation it helps me to double the effort on working,
to make it worth it. I’m very thankful with this experienced, I gained a lot of learning which will also help
me in starting my own business.
2. Investments – the money, time and effort was my investment to our business. It makes me eager to have
a profit. It develops my strategic techniques like the being wise in handling situations regarding money and
effort, also helps me to gain knowledge on how to deal with time management.
3. Resources – handling the resources like the asset and the members. One of the best thing that I learned
is on how would I connect the asset and members together in order to function effectively. It is allocating
the right member with the right equipment in order to work him as well and to be productive. I also have an
experienced of allocating with the members by grouping them with those persons whom they can work with
efficiently. The spot of each resources are very important, they must be put in right place to have a smooth
run of the business and also to reduce problems.
What will you change if you will do it all over again?
1. Capitalization – I want to proposed on an investor with our business because it will also help to do our
job well.
2. Investment – I will apply all things that we did not do to our business like investing into machines that
would help us in making our products.
3. Resources – I must allocate our resources carefully and there should always be an alternative to our
resources to reduce also our incurred loss.

Business implementation taught and made us realized many things in controlling and running a business. It
is indeed a difficult challenge for us but it brings so much enjoyment parse. As young entrepreneur, it was a
great experience though it wasn’t so easy and many arguments with other members but we learned a lot
from it.

A. Will you continue the business after graduation? Why? Why not?
YES, Top 3 Reasons
1.
2.
3.
NO, Top 3 Reasons
1. Limited capital if I will push through as a sole proprietor for now.
2. I will focus on investing first as much as I can get enough money.
3. I want to be employed after my college to fill or help me for the capital in starting business.
B. What were your triumphs or accomplishments (Causes for Celebration)?
1. As a student, at last I was able to finish business implementation that will help me a lot through years after
graduation. In terms of my business and personal experiences.
2. I was given the opportunity to go through the real situation in the field of business and the chance to
adopt, embrace, and overcome the challenges even how risky it is.
3. During our implementation, it’s not just about the way you successfully finish having business ideas and
experiences. But also the right attitude an entrepreneur must possess, as to execute the right ideas and
building the right mind set.
C. Regrets and failures and wish to change the second time around
1. One of my regrets is I wasn’t able to give myself the chance to venture and solve the financial aspects
because I don’t believe on my capability in doing it right.
2. There are moments that I wanted to interrogate things which are uncertain to me but I didn’t bother to
tell them like our marketing and financial. Knowing that I have to consider my ability first. If I had the
opportunity to change it, I’ll ask for help and try those things and it can be a one method to a continuous
leaning
3. Planning is important but the right execution is further significant. As partners, we have a book where
everything has planned but the problem is we aren’t able to follow most of them. We did some adjustments
and it was a bad habit being an entrepreneur. There are cases were miscommunication exist among us and
harmonious relationship towards partners and to be able to speak your feeling must be there.
D. Top 3 Experiences and Leaning Points you gathered in running your company
Organization, Leadership and Staffing
1. Within the organization, there must always be a goal to target and support one another and be open to
understand everything around you as you are reach them. An organization that has cooperation,
communication, and a personality as you work hard for the business.
2. In business, entrepreneurs must be a leader on their own. In running our business, we have a manager
who stands as a leader in a whole. But a group shall not depend on a manager all along. As one of the
partners, I should take responsibility of my role and take initiative on the other things that matter for our
business. Help the manager and be amenable enough in pursuing the goals and objectives. As I follow
orders, I should also lead others and influence my partners.
3. As partners who works as one for the business, we encountered a lot of unexpected challenges. The
group should accurately identify problems and think through it as clearly as possible. For us to address the
right strategies and the ability to respond quickly.
