It includes:
Understanding the flow of inventory within branches and from the
main warehouse.
Understanding the system used for recording inventory and stock
keeping
Learning to attach and use RFID tags on the merchandise.
Analysing shrinkage and overage of stock
Sales forecasting and trend forecasting.
5. Product Training
The product training is conducted at City level as well as country level.
It is given by an expert of the particular sport.
Every employee undergoes a different set of training for the product as per
the sports background he belongs to.
The training includes:
The basic understanding of the sports equipment.
Learning about the features, functions benefits of the merchandise.
Learning the features and functions of competitors merchandise as
well to serve the customer better way and convince him to buy the
merchandise.
Decathlon introduces new products to the store twice a year. In march and
September. So the employees undergo the product training in April and
October to learn about the features and functions of the new merchandise.

Herein the resources are told who they are, what they mean to the
brand and what they are expected to do.
They are told about the objectives of the company and efforts are
made to integrate the personal objectives of the employees with the
overall objective of the company.
Every employee is assigned with a coach who guides the employee
throughout his learning process and provides him with valuable
feedback.

This focuses on developing the soft skills of the resources. Such as

Communication
Decathlon provides a number of courses to improve the communicational
skills of the employees. The trainings are conducted through a lot of ppt,
videos and interactive sessions.
Improvement Trainings
If an employee wants to take up an additional responsibility at the store
then he has to take specific trainings designed to learn to take up the
responsivities.
E.g. if an employee wants to be a coach then he has to complete a training
called as foundation of coaching. If an employee wants to enter the
operations, he has to complete a training called as operations referent
training.

Every individual in the organization is a resource to an organization.
Every resource is linked to a project leader, a coach and a referent.
The store does not have a store manager, it is managed by project leaders/
operation leader (every sports has a sports leader). Number of resources
under the project leader may vary from 3 to 7 resources depending upon the
type of sports.
A referent reserves the power to refer a resource to undergo the trainings
desired by the resource.
A coach is a person who helps and mentors the salespersons. They can be
consulted whenever a situation of confusion is faced by the resource. They
can prescribe training to resources.
Recruiter refers the new recruit (fresh, part time or intern) to the mandatory
3-month induction training at Decathlon Academy.
The sports leaders are allowed to use an in house developed inventory
management app. They are responsible for managing their sports inventory
