Writing III
What Is The Writing Proccess?
Similarly with reading, Writing also requires and combines more fundamental skills than other
subject areas. To build a child's learning experience, educators must undergo through a specific
process to build a child's learning experience according to their developmental stage. In terms of
writing, the children are so natural that they write everything on their paper. Especially in the early
stages of development, they are very talkative. However, parents should encourage their fun and
involve the writing process used in their school. This process begins at an initial value by exposing
students to good books. To be able to model their own writing, they learn the ways that writers use
in story books.
Writing is often taught to the entire class at one time by teachers and seeks to add to their
ideas by modeling the writing lessons. To be an independent writer, teachers are also encouraged to
make small groups, because it is easy in giving instruction and children receive extra attention in
developing the strategies they need. This writing process is widely used by teachers in the
kindergarten class because there are precise steps that give structure and continuity in all forms of
writing, thus guiding children from the beginning to produce perfect results.
The Steps Of Writing Process
1. Prewriting - To develop a list of words to write, children can be helped using graphs, story
nets, and graphic organizers. The type of writing and the purpose of writing must be
determined first. And to get an idea in writing, they do brainstorming.
2. Rough Draft - The purpose of this is the students can focus on ideas and make them on
paper without interference or fear of making mistakes in grammar, capitalization,
punctuation, or paragraph structure. However, at this time the children are less concerned
with the procedure of writing so they make a lot of mistakes.
3. Peer Editing- They exchanged their Rough Draft with their friends and try to understand the
Rough Draft by using 5W1H questions. They find better words to improve their writing to be
more perfect.
4. Revising - Here teachers act to provide feedback, because children tried to improve his
writing by using suggestions from classmates.
5. Editing- This process requires cooperation with a teacher or a friend so that the children
could be any mistakes in his writing.
6. Final Draft - here the last teacher’s suggestion is required to copy prints made by children
from the editing, so that the result will be more perfect.
7. Publishing - This is the time when children celebrate the results of their writing, because this
is the end of their work. They can publish their works of local newspapers, children's
magazines, and others.
Parent Involvement In The Writing Process
Children got many great benefit from the structure of writing. In addition, parents should not
be unfamiliar with the process adopted at school. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to review the
process applied in the school. Here are the things which the parents do to provide experiences that
are channeled through writing because the position of the parent is in a good position:
1. Provide a nice environment at home.
2. Read the different types of genres to children
3. Get them to get used to common writing such as creating a list of accounts payable, writing
letters, and so on.
With home writing modeling, parents show their children that good writing skills are very
important and give them a long-term impression.
