Motion

This lesson plan covers motion concepts over 9 hours from October 28-31 and November 4-8. Students will define and differentiate key terms like motion, time, speed, velocity, distance, displacement, and acceleration. They will also practice calculating examples of these concepts. During class time, students will be shown pictures to motivate discussion of moving objects and their positions. Students will complete a word puzzle activity with motion-related terms. Finally, the class will be divided into groups to solve sample problem sets on the board related to speed, velocity, distance, time, and acceleration calculations.

LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

I. Objectives
At the end of this lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. Define motion, time, speed, velocity, distance, displacement and acceleration.
b. Differentiate speed from velocity and distance from displacement.
c. Calculate the given examples.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Describing of motion
Time Allotment: 9 hours
References: SCIENCE (Learner’s Material) Page 166-186, K to 12 Teacher’s Guide
Science 7 and Physics Textbook IV page 252-283
Instructional Materials: Laptop, Tv (Power point), Chalk, Pictures

III. Lesson Proper

A. Review
Ask the students about their previous lesson.
What they learn in the previous topic.
Ask the learners if they really understand the past lesson.
B. Motivation
The students will be shown a picture of different moving objects.
In each picture, the learners will be ask the following questions.
1. What figure is moving?
2. How is its position changing?
C. Activity
The learners will be ask to find the words inside the word puzzle.
Find this words: Motion, Time, Speed, Velocity, Distance, Displacement and Acceleration

G M O T I O N G Y N H D Z J H K G L F T

C M H B D S E G U I Q W G K V Z S R G B
E E F V S P E E D N G S W U B S H E Y N

D. Abstraction
The teacher will now discuss and give examples about the describing motion. The teacher
will also introduce the solving method everything about the motion.

E. Application
The learners will be divided into 10 groups then the teacher will give sets of problem solving
to be solved on the board.

Group 1. A train is 400 meters long. It takes 20 seconds to pass a tree on the side of the
train tracks. What is the speed of the train?

Group 2. Marga rides her car with a constant speed of 15km/hr. How far can she travel in 5
hours?

Group 3. An airplane flies with a constant speed of 700km/hr. How long will it take to travel
a distance of 350 kilometers?

Group 4. A child runs from one side of the park to the other. The park is 100 meters across.
The child take 15 seconds to cross the park. What is the speed of the child?

Group 5. You run a distance of 85m in a time of 5 seconds. What was your speed?
Group 6. How long does it take a car travelling at 30m/s to travel across an intersection that
is 18m wide?

Group 7. If Mia was able to travel 5 km North in 1 hour in his car, what was her average
velocity?

Group8. If I can walk at a velocity of 5 km/h East, how many kilometers I can walk in 2
hours?

Group 9. What acceleration is needed to accelerate a car from 36m/s to 72m/s in 25s?

Group 10. A boy on a bicycle increases his velocity from 5 m/s to 20 m/s in 10 seconds.

IV. Assessment
On their activity notebook, the learners will answer the given quiz.

V. Assignment
