STEEL SHOT Our Products
Steel shots are spherical grains made of molten steel through an atomization STEEL SHOTS
(granulation) process; these cast steel shots are available in different sizes &

hardness. Steel shots are manufactured from steel scrap. Our furnace is electric
furnace. Steel scrap is melted in the furnace then being atomized into shot by water

hardness increases over time, allowing the media to deliver consistent, repeatable performance over thousands of cycles. As
produced, our Steel Shot has a hardness of 40-50HRC (390-510 H.V). And thanks to its extremely low breakdown rate, virtually
no dust is produced. Delivering high-impact energy and fast cleaning rates, Steel Shot is used to for heavy scouring and to
produce very bright finishes

Cast steel shots & grits are non-hazardous as received. Fine metallic dust is generated as the abrasives break down from
impact & wear during normal use. Since the ferrous content is > 95% dust or fumes will consists mainly of iron or iron oxide. In
addition, the fine steel dust created can be a mild explosion hazard.

Steel shot blasting is the most widely used process in sand & shot blasting industries for
cleaning, stripping and improving a metal surface. The grade or size of steel shot will determine the finish achieved on the
surface of the metal.

Smaller steel shot will result in a smoother and more polished surface. Larger steel shot will clean more aggressively but
produce a rougher surface. Both air powered and wheel blast machine can be used to accelerate the steel shot onto the surface
of the part. Due to the hardness and density of steel shot, it can be recycled as much as 3000 times before replacement. Since
steel shot does not use an abrasives process, a minimal amount of dust is created in the blasting process.
Steel abrasives (cast steel shots) are essentially used to clean metal surfaces and parts like: Desanding and cleaning foundry
castings, Descaling metal sheets, billets and profiles produced by the steel industry, Surface preparation in steel works prior to
coating
Our cast steel shot continue to find broad and growing applications in diverse markets such as automotive, aerospace,
agriculture, construction, foundry, mining, railroad, shipyard, stone cutting, office machines, petrochemical, and other major
industries.
Steel shot blasting
Blast cleaning is the ideal cleaning process prior to forming, shearing, rolling, painting or galvanizing.
Shot Blasting uses fine steel media to clean, descale and remove rust from parts. Parts are "sprayed" with shot, similar to
sandblasting, revealing the original bright metallic appearance. The restored surface has a uniform luster, optimized for lube
adhesion.
Blast cleaned steel reduces wear on shears, punches and roll-formers by removing abrasive mill scale. This can allow
immediate painting. Blast cleaning also eliminates the need for post fabrication cleaning process. Shot blasting consists of
attacking the surface of a material with one of many types of shots. Normally this is done to remove something on the surface
such as scale, but it is also done sometimes to impart a particular surface to the object being shot blasted, such as the rolls
used to make a 2D finish. The shot can be sand, small steel balls of various diameters, granules etc. The device that throws the
shot is either a large air gun or spinning paddles which hurl the shot off their blades. Shot-blasting media for all applications:

STEEL SHOT PEENING
Shot peening is a cold working process in which the surface of a spring is bombarded with small spherical media called steel
shot. Each piece of shot striking the surface creates a small indentation or dimple. Overlapping dimples develop an even layer of
metal in residual compressive stress. Fatigue cracks will not start or propagate in a compressively stressed zone. When a

residual compressive stress is produced in the surface, the tensile stress created by the applied load must first overcome the
residual compressive stress before the resultant surface stress becomes tensile.

Use of Peening
Shot peening has many uses in industry, particularly in the manufacture of parts as different as gears, springs, welded joints,
aircraft parts, transmission shafts, torsion bars, etc. Experience has shown that shot peening could increase the endurance limit
of lifting hooks up to 50%. For this to be done the necessary equipment must be obtained.
Peening is now frequently used as an alternative to polishing where directional scratches can propagate minute cracks. It is
ideal for the treatment of fillets, grooves or unsupported edges or anywhere where sudden changes in form occur.
