Declarative and Procedural Knowledge in Classrooms

The document summarizes observations from an English and science class. In the English class, the teacher imparted both procedural and declarative knowledge through activities like daily story readings, parts of speech lessons, and poetry writing. Students learned comprehension skills and how to analyze different text elements. In the science class, it is not specified what activities occurred. The document then provides strategies for improving acquired knowledge, such as continued studying, research, discussion participation, and knowledge application. It also gives examples of declarative, procedural, and functional knowledge.

APPLY
There are ways or strategies by which students can improve the
quality of knowledge they have developed and acquired. Can you
suggest one strategy or one method (apart from those mentioned in
this chapter) to improve the quality of the knowledge that you have
acquired?
As a student, for me, my strategy to improve my knowledge that
I already have and including the knowledge that I wanted to have is to
read and study the books and notes that you have gotten during the
lecture time, I also do advance reading to our current topic, aside
from that I make a research about what we are studying. For me to not
forget the lesson that we have discussed I should keep reading my
notes and lecture every day.
During the discussion, I prefer to take note while listening for me
to easily remember terms and information that we have discussed. In
order for me to maintain this knowledge and skills that I have acquired,
learned and developed I should do an application for me to assess
myself and test how deep my understanding, after that if I know that it
is enough I should keep to my mind that this is not enough, reading and
studying other references can add to the information and knowledge
that I have. I should also apply this to the real life situation for those
learning that we should apply to our life, because we are study and
learn to makes our life easy and not to be ignorant. Sharing my
knowledge is of the best method and strategy for me to keep this in my
mind and heart.
