Activity
1. The teacher will begin the lesson discussing patterns.
The teacher will ask the students, what a pattern is?
How do you identify a pattern? And do patterns
naturally exist in the world?

2. On the interactive white board there will be examples of

patterns with shapes and the students and teachers will
briefly discuss how to identify them.

3. The first activity will be to copy a pattern. The teacher

will call on different students to come up to the IWB to
touch and drag and drop the shapes into the same
pattern already shown.

4. The students will then complete an activity called

extend the pattern. This will include coming up to the
IWB to drag and drop the shapes to continue the
pattern that is already displayed on the screen.

5. Once these activities are done with students will be

handed two activity worksheets. One will be classroom
work and the other will be taken for homework. Both
worksheets will continue patterns. One will be extending
the patterns and the other will be copying a given
pattern.
