Opening Remarks Reflection

The document discusses how to give an effective presentation. It recommends beginning with an attention-grabbing introduction, thoroughly covering main points in a logical order like chronologically, and wrapping up by reminding the audience of key takeaways. Visual aids should reinforce the message but not distract. When presenting to a formal or unfamiliar audience, the presenter should set clear goals, know the audience, include an outline and visuals, allow for interaction, and consider a handout. Being culturally aware involves gestures, eye contact, animation level, and carefully reviewing all graphics and text. The presenter can improve by setting goals, showing passion, using personal stories, asking questions, and practicing.

Opening Remarks Reflection

How did you organize your presentation to be effective? Why did you choose to discuss the
information in the order you did?

The beginning of the presentation sets the tone for the rest of the talk, so it is important to
impress the audience with this approach, style and topic. Begin the presentation with
something that attracts the audience’s attention, but keep it relevant to the topic. I organise my
presentation as follow;
1: Introduce your subject: Mention the points that I’ll touch on throughout the presentation so
that the audience will know what to expect.
2: Cover your points thoroughly: I won’t always cover points in exactly the same way. It all
depends on what the presentation is about. There are a few different, logical ways to approach
your main points, including chronologically, comparatively, spatially, or presenting a problem
and its solution.
3: Wrap it up: In your conclusion, I want to quickly remind everyone of the most important
points that I have made and give them something by which they’ll remember my presentation.
I choose to discuss information in this order because, A link like this lets the audience know
that you’re moving on, but still feels natural.

What aspects of tone and body language could you improve?

Do you use visual supports to improve your message, or do they distract?

Yes, I do them as Visual aids are an important part of presentations. They can help to keep
your audience engaged, make your point for you—there is a reason why people say that a
picture tells a thousand words—and remind you what you want to say.

When you are giving a speech, you ideally want the audience to pay complete attention to your
voice and message. A visual aid is an invitation for them to pay attention to something else, if
even for a moment. Therefore, this visual aid must reinforce your message. So the visual aids
one uses should be relevant, appropriate, attractive and visible.

How would you change your presentation if the audience were more formal, or less
acquainted with the subject? How would you adjust this presentation to be more culturally
aware?

While delivering presentation in the formal style I keep in mind the following things:
 Set clearly defined goals.
 Know your audience.
 Create an outline.
 Use visuals.
 Include questions for audience interaction.
 Consider a hand-out.

To be more culturally aware, i would keep following points in mind while giving presentation;
 Be conscious of my hand gestures
 Be aware of eye contact expectations
 Use an appropriate level of animation
 Be Careful When Selecting Visuals
 Carefully review all graphics and texts.
 Utilize the Best Resources

What could you do differently to make this presentation more effective?

There are lots of things one can do to become a more effective - as well as more confident.
Some of the ways through which I can enhance the effectiveness of my presentations are:
1: Setting goals
2: Showing passion
3: Use personal stories.
4: Asking questions
5: Practice then practice again
