Pancasila and Globalization

In the current period, globalization is developing quickly and influences

all perspectives of the life of the nation and state. Globalization may be a
worldwide or comprehensive prepare where everybody is not bound by national
boundaries. This implies that each individual can communicate and exchange data
anytime and anyplace through print and electronic media. In substance,
globalization can make a nation smaller because of the ease of communication
between countries in different areas. Globalization can include the process of
spreading modern components within the frame of the way of life, data,
considering, and innovation universally.

In the time of globalization, the improvement of innovation is so quick

that all information can be easily spread throughout the world. Therefore, we
cannot avoid globalization. The presence of globalization certainly affects the life
of a country, including Indonesia. This impact includes two sides, specifically
positive and negative impacts. The impact of globalization can happen in different
fields of life and will affect the values of nationalism. In case, the Indonesian
individuals can filter the different things that arise from the effect of globalization,
of course, globalization will be a positive thing because it can include
understanding into social differences and strengthen relations between countries in
the world, whereas the negative things from the effect of globalization can harm
national ethics and social existence. Indonesia, to be specific, will particularly
affect the values of Pancasila.

Pancasila is the ideological pillar of the Indonesian state and serves as a

strong establishment and guideline for achieving the goals of the Indonesian state.
As the basis of the state, Pancasila is the essential standard within the organization
of the state, as well as the source of all sources of law which are the ideals of law
(recht-idee) and common ideals (staats-idee) of the Indonesian country. As
philosophy or a way of life, the values of Pancasila are a rule in the improvement
of the Indonesian country and state, so that it remains solid and knows bearings in
solving different issues in different areas of life in Indonesian society. Sebagai
jiwa dan kepribadian bangsa Indonesia, nilai-nilai Pancasila mencerminkan
kepribadian bangsa Indonesia, sebab nilai dasarnya merupakan hasil kristalisasi
dari nilai-nilai budaya bangsa Indonesia asli bukan diambil dari bangsa lain, yang
mencerminkan garis pertumbuhan dan perkembangan bangsa Indonesia sepanjang
masa.

Pancasila, which has been established as the basis of the state and the way
of life of the Indonesian country, is faced with numerous issues that must be
confronted by the Indonesian country, one of which is the current globalization.
The impact of the passage of outside cultures in the life of Indonesian society,
which is taken after without any filtering of rules, is one of the causes of the
disintegration of Pancasila values and the sense of nationalism of the Indonesian
country. Pancasila appears to have been forgotten as a state establishment and
national philosophy that should be maintained by all Indonesian individuals.

The most critical issues faced by Pancasila, especially concerning issues of

appreciation and hone. This may be seen from the increasing number of
Indonesian people's behavior that's distant from the values that reflect Pancasila as
the basis of the state and the national ideology of the Indonesian country. This
could be seen in a few activities in the life of Indonesian society nowadays, such
as changes in the way of life of society that is increasingly modern and
consumptive, the blurring the esteem of participation, the development of
independence, and the arrangement of materialistic and secularism attitudes.

Globalization seems to have been able to create interpersonal connections.

In Indonesian society, it ends up more individualistic and down-to-earth.
Indonesian society presently tends to be pragmatic as a result of the impact of the
global way of life that has entered into the awareness of the lifestyle of the
Indonesian individuals. Also, the understanding of nationalism approximately the
Indonesian country has started to decrease, such as when the state needs solidarity
and unity. In reality, most individuals, especially those in urban areas, prioritize
their groups, indeed other countries, then the interface of their own country.

Globalization is a phenomenon that inevitably must be confronted by each

country in the world, including Indonesia. Globalization demands that each
country must open itself in all zones of life and must progress to follow each
advancement for development, which is in some cases far from being standard.
The recipients in this circumstance, of course, are created countries that have a
much higher level of capability compared to creating nations.

The current development of globalization can have a big impact on the

values that have long been created in society. In reality, globalization is capable of
destroying values that have long been held by individuals in a country, such as the
values of Pancasila which have long been held by Indonesians. Some of the
impacts that arise as a result of globalization don't specifically affect the
nationalism of a country. However, in general, the impact of globalization can
cause a sense of patriotism to the country and the state to be reduced or lost. This
is because globalization can open people's horizons to ended up worldwide and of
course, the foreign culture that enters Indonesia will influence the way of life of
Indonesian individuals.

Foreign cultures that enter Indonesia due to the current globalization, such
as the existence of Indonesian individuals who follow to the concept of liberalism
starting from Western culture, which comes about in the rise of free sex. Also,
with the application of the concepts of capitalism, atheism, and others. Of course,
with these negative impacts, it will not be following the values of Pancasila which
have long been watched by the founders and funders of the Indonesian country.

The values contained in Pancasila generally contradict the foreign cultures

that entered the country of Indonesia, specifically the first rule, "God All-
powerful," which implies that the Indonesian people must accept within the one
and as it were God and obey with orders and remain away from His
disallowances. But with the current globalization, there's a behavior that veers off
from the first rule of Pancasila, to be specific the habit of free sex and
indiscrimination which is presently clearing among young people. The second
statute, "Fair and Civilized Humankind," contains the value that the Indonesian
state must maintain the respect and respect of human beings as civilized creatures.
Illustrations of violations of the second rule of Pancasila within the period of
globalization are killed cutting-edge servitude and other wrongdoings.
 The third statute, "Indonesian Unity," contains the value that as a society,
Indonesia must be united or not partitioned. The attitude of independence and
racism has presently begun to create within the nation of Indonesia, which is one
of the foreign societies that have entered Indonesia due to globalization and will
certainly make the values of the three standards of Pancasila fade. The fourth
statute, "Democracy is Led by Wisdom in Consultation/Representation", contains
the esteem that individuals should be more concerned with the interests of society
but in this current era, many Indonesian individuals do not need to respect the
opinions of others since of their pride which tends to be caused by the impact of
globalization.

The fifth statute, "Social Equity for All Indonesians", implies the esteem
that each Indonesian should get reasonable treatment in all regions of life. The
idea of capitalism has become one of the foreign cultures that have entered
Indonesia due to the flow of globalization and of course, this is contrary to the
fifth guideline of Pancasila since capitalism can make gaps between the rich and
the poor, resulting in a bad form for the Indonesian people. By doing these things,
it is obvious that the impact of foreign culture causes the weakening of Pancasila
execution in Indonesian society. Jika hal-hal tersebut semakin diteruskan dan
dilakukan oleh generasi berikutnya tentu akan sangat berbahaya bagi kondisi
moral bangsa Indonesia.

In such conditions, Pancasila as the view of life and the premise of the
Indonesian nation-state plays a critical part in being able to filter new values, to be
able to maintain the first cultural values of Indonesia within the era of
globalization as it is nowadays. Pancasila will sort out which values ought to be
retained to suit the values of Pancasila itself. Therefore, for Pancasila as the
premise of the state and the nation's philosophy to proceed to have the soul to be
fought for, Pancasila must be socialized so that it can be caught on by the
Indonesian individuals, particularly youthful individuals as another era of the
Indonesian country in keeping up the presence of Pancasila as the philosophical
establishment of the Indonesian country. One way is through instruction which
places more accentuation on the values contained in Pancasila.
 Through education that emphasizes more on the values of Pancasila, it is
hoped that this will be a solution to reduce the negative impact of globalization.
And it is hoped that ideology and national identity will be embedded in people
with attitudes and behaviors that believe and believe in God Almighty, have fair
and civilized humanity, support the unity of the Indonesian nation, support a
society that prioritizes common interests over individual/group interests, as well
as supporting efforts to realize social justice in society, so that in future Indonesia
can become a country that has a good personality and character.

One form of education that can be applied is Pancasila education.

Pancasila education can be used as the basis for efforts to overcome the
disintegration faced by the Indonesian nation in the era of globalization. This is
can be done as an effort to maintain the respectable values contained in Pancasila
as the basis of the state and national ideology. Therefore, Indonesian people,
especially young people, must be aware of the importance of practicing the values
of Pancasila in social life, in school, and even in families. Sehingga pada
akhirnya, masyarakat Indonesia dapat menjaga keharmonisan dan kelangsungan
hidup bangsa Indonesia yang berdasarkan nilai Pancasila.

The implementation of Pancasila values in the era of globalization for the

younger era can be carried out by cultivating patriotism in the more youthful era.
Patriotism can be re-cultivated within the right minutes such as the
commemoration of Youth Pledge Day and other national occasions, being pleased
to utilize residential items, being able to maintain the great title of the Indonesian
country, maintaining open arrange by complying with appropriate rules,
complying state laws, etc.

In the period of globalization, the Indonesian nation will not be able to

close itself off from the outside world, because if that happens, it can be
discovered that the Indonesian country will be cleared out behind by the advance
of the times. Therefore, the most vital thing is how the Indonesian individuals can
channel out all the impacts that come from the exterior as a result of globalization,
to then select which ones are great and which are awful, and which are by the
values of Pancasila. Pancasila must still be utilized as a benchmark in attitude for
the Indonesian individuals, indeed although it follows the stream of globalization.
By proceeding to have the more youthful era who proceed to protect and practice
the values of Pancasila, can make the more youthful era and future eras more
loving the respectable values of the Indonesian country, to be specific Pancasila.
