Why are you applying for Financial Aid?

(150 words minimum required)

I am currently unemployed. I have studied mechanical engineering and since then, I am unable to
find any kind of job related to anything. I live with my parents in a rented house and I live in poverty.
My parents suffer with chronic ailments, I feel very sad about it. My father has lung cancer. He was a
worker in a plastics manufacturing company. His everyday life in the company consists of using,
spraying, mixing hazardous chemicals like styrene and others - this is the reason believed that he
contracted lung cancer. He needs regular treatment and is prescribed several tablets to be taken life-
long. Now, he too is unemployed as he was shooed out of the company owing to the fact that he is
no longer productive. thus, his course of income has cut-off. My mother has dialysis problem and is
totally bed-ridden. She needs to be treated with her illness regularly. Thus, both my parents require
regular treatments which consumes a lot of money. The medical expenses other than treatment too
is very high. Since my father and I, both are unemployed, it is very difficult to manage the already
meagre savings we have - and these money in savings accounts drop very quickly, making the
process of leading life very difficult. There is very less money left in the end for our everyday life. Me
being unemployed makes me feels like my weak point so i want to increase my skills set but for that,
I don't have money to pay for. That's why I am applying for financial aid because me getting a job is
very much needed now so that I can support my family financially. I love my family a lot and that is
why it is important I do this course - for that, I need financial aid.

How will taking this course help you achieve your career goals? (150 words minimum required)

I am currently unemployed as mentioned above. As I have explained my financial conditions, it is


very much important that I find a job. Me being unemployed makes me feels like my weak point so I
want to increase my skills set but for that, I don't have money to pay for. I have pursued engineering
in mechanical field but it is very difficult for me to find any job as the whole mechanical and
manufacturing industry is in recession. I have to lookout for other fields and the most appealing to
me is Data Science. Taking this course will help me achieve my career goals by making me acquire
the most important skills sets required to get a job in Data Science field and carve out my career in
this field. This course is the one of the nine courses in the IBM Data Science Professional Course. The
first two courses have proved to be very helpful in acquiring knowledge which has given me a lot of
confidence. Taking this course will help me get the most important thing to me - a job, by which I can
help my family financially and save my parents from their suffering. This course will help me a lot.

As mentioned above, my parents are suffering from chronic illnesses. Their medical expenses are so
much that it is very difficult to run the home for everyday life with the money left in the end of all
treatments and medical bills' payment. And on top of that, I am unemployed and so is my father,
who was the only working person, earning money in my family of three people. Now, everything is
ruined and the condition of myself and my family is very critical. Money gets spent by the first 15-20
days of the month, most of the times. Sometimes its less, sometimes more but never lasting for the
whole month. Thus, it is very difficult to pay low-interest loan for this course, owing to my financial
condition.
