Self-Reflection and Identity Exploration

The document contains two exercises completed by Princess Nhoor A. Agcong describing herself. In the first exercise, she used five adjectives - ordinary, serious, logical, composed, and rational - to write a paragraph describing herself. She views herself as an ordinary person who enjoys serious discussions but also needs alone time to recharge. While logical and rational, she works to avoid adding insult to arguments. The second exercise involved creating a concept map and essay to illustrate who she is beyond words. Her concept map featured images relating to her love of chess, reading, and music. In the essay, she explained each image and said some aspects of herself remain unknown, represented by a blank notebook page

EXERCISE #1 How Do you View Yourself?

INSTRUCTION: Write five adjectives that describe you in these post-its. Then make sentences
using these adjectives and write about yourself on the blank provided.

Ordinary Serious Logical

1 2 3

Composed
Rational
5

_I view myself as an ordinary person who loves to engage in serious talks. I can be who I am
when I am alone but I can be myself more when I am with the people that I trust and I’m
comfortable with. When there is something that caught my attention, I tend to invest my time
on it. However, my attention can be easily drawn into something else that’s why I am always
controlling myself from being distracted. When I am in the midst of an argument, I always try to
be logical and rational so that my action/s will not add insult to the injury and so that it can be
resolve quickly. In whatever situation I’m in, I always put a composed façade. I love listening to
other people’s perspective because it can help me widen my understanding. It frustrates me
when I’m talking with someone who couldn’t understand me so I tend to repeat my entire
dialogue. I hate it every time I think too much when time requires me to think less. When
people ask me about myself, I become uncertain about what my answer should be. But I am
always trying my best to construct a good answer.

EXERCISE #2 The Self: Imaging Beyond

Instruction: Present through illustration your concept map of who you are. Then, write a short
essay based on your concept map.

Who Am
I?

_Through pictures, we can show what words cannot give an emphasis. We can feel and see
with our eyes the things we should be seeing. The first picture is pawn with shadow of high
ranks chess pieces. Like me, a person who loves to play chess, I am a pawn who will always
move one step forward without hesitation because I know that if I reach my final destination, I
can be a queen in my own chess board. The picture on the left shows the side of me that I only
the person who also lives in house can witness. The person who loves to read books and while
the things that are running through my head. Listening to music completes my day and it
became a significant part of my life just like how the picture on the right side completes the
concept map of who I am. Lastly, the blank page of a notebook represents that I cannot entirely
present who I am in this concept map because there are still blank pages in my life that can on
be completed when we’ve reached our finish line, the opposite of life.
