Project / Assignment Title: TEXTURE

Instructions:

Introduction to 3D
● Studio Safety
● Accessing Learning Portal for project briefs and preparation for class
● Camera hand-phone or camera for documentation
● A4 size sketchbook – note taking, documenting reference materials and sources, fabrication,
learning and thought process
● Explanation – Formative feedback & Summative assessment

LESSON 1 – Texture through lines


Lesson Aim:
To observe variety of lines and understand formation of texture using lines application
To develop basic technical skills through fabrication

Materials to bring to class


i) From the theme, NATURE: 3 different no. of reference images (size: B5) showing various
interesting lines
Note: To print and bring hardcopy; must indicate the source of images taken
ii) Cutting mat, metal ruler, scissors / penknife , double-sided tape and common stationery

Studio demonstration: simple manipulation techniques


Definition: different formation of texture through selected range of arrangements, repetition…
etc.

Exercise:
(1) To explore 2 studies of line texture from the reference images, size: 3cm x 3cm
Describe the studies made

(2) From the studies made, create relief/ tactile texture, size 10cm x 10cm
To document the making process
To be mounted on B5 size mounting board

LESSON 2 – Texture through shapes


Learning Aim:
To observe variety of shapes and understand formation of texture through shapes
To develop basic technical skills through fabrication

i) From the theme, NATURE: 3 different no. of reference images (size: B5) showing various
interesting shapes
Note: To print and bring hardcopy; must indicate the source of images taken
ii) Cutting mat, metal ruler, scissors / penknife , double-sided tape and common stationery

Studio demonstration: simple interpretation approaches into studies/ experiment – join, fold, cut,
bend… etc.

Exercise:
(1) To explore 2 studies of shape texture from the reference images, size: 3cm x 3cm
Describe the studies made

(2) From the studies made, create relief/ tactile texture, size 10cm x 10cm
To document the making process
To be mounted on B5 size mounting board

LESSON 3 – Space through lines and shapes

Lesson Aim:
To understand formation of space from 2-dimensional surface
To demonstrate basic technical skills through fabrication

Materials to bring to class


i) Cutting matt, metal ruler, penknife and common stationery
ii) 2 different colour paper, A4 size
iii) To select and print ONE template of the Pop up card from Learning Portal, A4 size

Studio demonstration: explain and demo the transition of space from flat surfaces

Exercise:
(1) Refer to the video site provided, select and duplicate ONE sample of pop-up card
Select different colour paper for foreground and background, size A4

To document the planning and fabrication process
