4. An equilateral triangle is a triangle with three congruent
sides.
5. A segment is a geometric figure which is a subject of a line
and has two endpoints.
6. A quadrilateral is a polygon which has four sides.

How do you know that definition is specific?
How do you know that definition is general?
A specific definition, in contrast with a general definition
defines a type or of thing. Consider the examples below:
1. An obtuse triangle is a triangle with one obtuse angle.
2. An obtuse triangle is a plane figure with one obtuse
angle.
Remember that you can use a general class word ( as in
example 2) or repeat a noun (as in example 1) in writing
a specific definition.
