Week 7-9 Using ICT in Developing 21st Century Skills/ICT

I. INTRODUCTION
The basic education curriculum of the country was enhanced with the implementation of the K to
12 Curriculum. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic Education. One of
the features of the K to 12 Curriculum is the requirement to equip every graduate with the necessary
skills. The development of this skills can be done with the aid of technologies for teaching and
learning which is the focus of this course.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the chapter, the students should be able to:
1. Discuss the role of technology for teaching and learning mathematics and science in the light of
the K to 12 Curriculum Framework
2. Review the K to 12 Curriculum Guide focusing on the development of 21st century skills in
mathematics and science education.
3. Review learning plans in mathematics and science teaching from various sources that integrate
ICTs in the teaching learning process
4. Plan activities integrating ICTs that will facilitate the development of the 21 st Century Skills
required in the curriculum guide
5. Brainstorm about digital citizenship and relate this to the development of 21st Century Skills
among Learners
