Geology

The document outlines the modules of an engineering geology course. Module 1 introduces various branches of geology and their relevance to engineering. It discusses geomorphic processes, rock weathering, soil formation, and the engineering significance of rivers and oceans. Module 2 covers plate tectonics, earthquake mechanics, and seismic wave types. Module 3 defines mineralogy and describes the physical properties and compositions of common rock-forming minerals. Module 4 defines structural geology concepts like folds, faults, joints, and unconformities and their importance in engineering projects. Module 5 discusses mass wasting, landslides, hydrogeology, site selection for dams and reservoirs, and recommended field work.
