Numbering Convention and index method

In order to enable the users to conveniently search the information of a board,

each board is given a unified number which is used as the right page header of
manual. The boards are numbered following the rules given below:
B-##XX
Where, B denotes “Board manual”, ## denotes the number of the first letter of
the board name (A is 01, B is 02 ,and so on), XX denotes the serial number
(which are also numbered according to the alphabetic order of board name) in
the set of boards whose name has the same first letter.
Some boards have a same number because they are the same board with
different versions.
The user can get the board number according to the board name from the
index table. Having this board number, they can refer to the right page header
to get the board information.

ADP Voice Mailbox Interface Card

Functions
The ADP voice mailbox interface card (ADP) is the expansion unit for intelligent
services provided by C&C08 SPCE. It connects to the corresponding port of the
C&C08 SPCE via the serial bus.
To provide more supplementary services such as voice mailbox, audio services and
data services, the SPCE is required to be capable of storing and transferring the audio
information, say, SPCE can provide the large-capacity, high-density and real-time
audio information processing unit. Its application is illustrated in Figure 1 below.

The PCM code stream is transmitted via the downlink HW line, which is one of the two
pieces of HW lines. Then the PCM code is turned into the ADPCM code after being
compressed by the audio processing card. Finally, the ADPCM code is wrote into the
harddisk via the buffer after being read from PC with the interruption function. As for
the uplink PCM code, the adverse process is performed, in which, the employed audio
processing unit is the specific digital signal processor that can support 32-channel full
duplex ADPCM compression/decompression (the compressibility is optional: 16kbit/s,
32kbit/s and 24kbit/s.)

message, which may be distinguished by the silk-screen mark on the panel.

Implications of the switch and jumper

Switches and jumpers on the display panel
BJ: If it is closed off, the alarm box may give the audible alarm (by buzzer) while the
power fails.
S2: General power switch of the alarm box
Switches and jumpers on the motherboard
J5 J8: They are three-pin jumpers that are used to indicate whether the external
alarms of E1-E4 are effective on open circuit or on short pass. There are two versions
of the motherboard:CC01ALMM and CC02ALMM. As for CC01ALMM, if J5 J8 are
switched to the left, it indicates that “effective on close off” . If they are switched to the
right, it indicates that “effective on open circuit”. As for CC02ALMM, if J5 J8 are
switched downward, it indicates that “effective on close off”. If they are switched
upward, it indicates that “effective on open circuit”.
S1: Setting of the two-digit DIP switch
S1-1 and S1-2: Because P1 and P2 share two serial ports with J9 and J10. When S1-1
and S1-2 are set as OFF, both TTL ports of J9 and J10 are effective; when S1-1 and
S1-2 are set as ON, both RS232 ports of P1 and P2 are effective.
S3: Setting of the eight-digit DIP switch
S3-1: Determining the bit rate of the P1 port. While S3-1 is set to ON, bit rate of the P1
port is 2400bps. If S3-1 is set as OFF, that of the P1 port is 19200bps (S3-4 is set as
OFF) or 4800bps (S3-4 is set as ON).

ON ON P2 J4

In the field of the “Hierarchy mode”, “J3 J4” indicates that the alarm message is
received by the J3 port and then transferred to the J4 port. Other fields indicate in the
same way.
S3-4: Determining bit rates of all ports except the P1 port. If S3-4 is set as OFF, the bit
rate is 19200bps; if S3-4 is set as ON, the bit rate is 4800bps.
S3-7: When the motherboard of the alarm box is CC01ALMM, S3-7 is set as ON; when
the motherboard is CC02ALMM 时 , S3-7 is set as OFF. One difference between
CC01ALMM and CC02ALMM is that: the former has six RS232 ports of DB9 while the
latter only has two.
S3-8: Determining whether the continuous alarm sound will be given off. When S3-8 is
set as OFF, the continuos audible alarm will be given off on receiving the alarm; if S3-8
is set as ON, the audible alarm will only last for ten seconds.

External distributions
Descriptions of the port

AMD Alarm Driving Board

Functions
Functioning as the monitoring equipment that is for parts of the power supply, heat
dissipation and ambient conditions, AMD provides modules above with following
functions: alarm collection, alarm processing and caution processing.
Here follow functions provided by AMD board:
(1) Monitoring whether the two-way -48V power that is led into the distribution box
works properly: monitoring whether the power failure occurs in the -48V input;
monitoring whether the undervoltage or overvoltage occur in the -48V input.
(2) Monitoring whether the fan works well.
(3) Monitoring the state of each power switch on the front panel of the framework. The
alarm will be issued if any switch is not turned off.
(4) Monitor whether the secondary power board (PWC/PWX) goes wrong.
(5) Providing the alarm interface to the entry authority system of the rack.
(6) Driving the external alarm indicator light.
(7) Providing the RS-232 serial port to facilitate its communication with the background
directly.

Implications of the indicator light

There are total two indicator lights on the AMD board, of which one is the red light and
the other is green. Both lights are on the side of the connector. Table. 1 below indicates
implications of the indicator light.

Implications of the switch and jumper

There are three jumpers on the AMD board, of which, one is the 8-bit jumper S1, one is
the 4-bit jumper S2 and the last one is the 2-bit jumper S3.
(1) Employed as the jumper communication address setting jumper, the 8-bit jumper
S1 only has its first five bits (D0 to D4) enabled. As the sub-node of the ALM board,
AMD board has the range of address within 0 to 31, all of which can not be repeated. In
the construction at site, address bits are as stipulated in the following figure:

Note:
(1) States of the AMD jumper should be set in line with the rack type.
(2) In the table above, “0” indicates the state in which the jumper is switched to “OFF”
and “1” to “ON”.

(2) The two-bit jumper S3 is used to enable/disable the standby battery and the
matched resistance of the differential bus. Of the two bits, the first bit is for the battery
selection (selection of OFF will disable the battery and ON enables the battery). During
the manufacture, delivery and assembly, the battery is usually disabled by setting the
first bit of S3 as OFF. During the ordinary operation, the battery is enabled by setting
the first bit of S3 as ON. The second bit of S3 is used to enable/disable the matched
resistance of the differential serial port. The matched resistance will be disabled while
setting the second bit as OFF and the resistance will be disabled while it is set as ON.
During the installation, the matched resistance of the AMD board in the master control
rack will be enabled while matched resistance of other racks will be disabled.
The four-bit jumper S2 is used to select the type of the transmission output port. The
table below illustrates the correspondence between states of the S2 jumper and types
of the output port:

Figure 1 Schematic diagram of the analog subscriber line board (ASL)

The principle of the analog subscriber line board (ASL) is illustrated in Figure 1. The
chip microcomputer (CPU) is used to control 16 subscriber circuits, and communicate
with the superior main node (NOD). SD502 is the ASIC chip designed by Huawei
independently, and it is mainly engaged in timeslot distribution, ringing current control
and off-hook/on-hook detection.

Board Manual
C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System B-0105

Two kinds of ASL boards are used commonly: the ordinary subscriber line board and
16KHz charging subscriber line board. The subscriber line board slot can be inserted
with ASL board to connect with ordinary telephone sets, with DSL board to connect
with digital telephone set and ISDN terminals, with DCN board to connect with
CENTREX attendant console, with AVM board to connect with voice mailboxes or card
stations, with line multiplier (LCT) to connect with remote subscriber units (RSU). All
these boards are numbered in uniform manner.

Indicator Meanings
Meanings of ASL board indicator are shown in Table 1.

Table 1 Meanings of ASL board indicator

Indicator Color Meaning Normal status

RUN Red RUN indicator* Flash

Note * : when the board is powered on or receives the reset command from MPU, the
red indicator flashes once every 500ms and self tests, waiting for MPU to give
configuration command. If the configuration command is received in 5 seconds, the
subscriber line board is in service and the red indicator flashes once every 1 second.
Otherwise, the red indicator flashes once every 500ms again, entering into self test
status, and the cycle described above will be repeated.

External Distribution
The subscriber cables (16 pairs of subscriber lines) are connected in the
corresponding cable interfaces of the ASL board on the backboard of the subscriber
frame.

AVM Voice Mailbox Interface Board

Functions
The AVM board (ASL Voice Mailbox Board) functions as the bridge between SPCE
and ICU. Since the AVM board can be inserted into any of the slot on the subscriber
board in the frame, so it may be taken as a sub-node of SPCE (communicating with
SPCE via the NOD board), as same as the subscriber board. By setting the jumper on
the board, AVM board may provide sixteen or thirty-two channels. It occupies one slot
while providing sixteen channels and occupies adjacent two slots while thirty-two
channels, that is, it is inserted into the slot of the even number leaving the slot of the
odd number empty. For example, if the board occupies the twelfth slot, then the
thirteenth slot must be left empty.
Fig. 1 illustrates the position of the AVM board in the system.
Two groups of data lines are induced from the AVM board to the high-performance
ICU, in which, the large-capacity hard disk may save the audio data transmitted from
lines. The ICU also has the ADP card inserted into the expansion slot. Because the
ADP card can compress the audio data, save the data in buffer and decompress the
compressed data, so it can process thirty-two audio channels at the same time. Of the
data line groups induced from the AVM board, one are the 2Mbit/s audio data links that
are directly connected to the audio processing card in ICU and the other group are
signaling control lines that are connected with the ICU RS232 serial port via which the
ICU program communicates with SPCE.

Employed as the information retrieving system, which can store the information on
public affairs (transportation schedule, weather forecast and so on) in the mailbox,
from which the public people can inquiry the information via the telephone.
Employed as the poll system, which can start the call of the poll or market survey
taking advantage of the timing of the voice mailbox;
Employed for the purpose of the call transfer. Users can set the destination code of the
call transfer as the access code voice mailbox, then they can enjoy following services:
call transferring to the voice mailbox on busy, call transferring to the voice mailbox on
no reply, call transferring to the voice mailbox on no condition and so on. Since the
user can transfer the call to the mailbox whose access code is even invisible to him,
the call completion ratio is greatly improved;
Employed as the computer-aided operator, which may broaden its application to
industrial enterprises since it can not only record/broadcast the voice message, but
also be taken as the computer-aided operator;

While being set as the 32-channel board, the AVM board occupies two adjacent slots,
of which the first one is the slot of the even number. For example, if the board is
inserted into the twelfth slot, it occupies the twelfth and thirteenth slots while the
thirteenth slot is empty. If the board is inserted into the thirteenth slot, it also occupies
the twelfth and thirteenth boards while the twelfth board is empty.

CK2 Second-level Clock Board

Functions
Functioning as the board that generates the reference clock of the second-level clock
system, the CK2 board contains the high-staibility constant temperature crystal chip.
By tracing the external reference signal, screening jitter and wandering of the external
reference signal, it is capable of ensuring the high accuracy and stability of the timing
signal and then supplies the high-quality clock reference to the frequency synthesis
board CK3.
It receives the reference source signal such as 8kHz, 2MHz and 2Mbit/s and provides
the GPS and BITS ports.

CK3 Third-level Clock Board

Functions
As the clock interface board, the CK3 board contains the third-level
constant-temperature crystal chip. To ensure the high accuracy and stability of the
timing signal, the CLK board traces the external reference signal, screens jitters of the
external reference by the phase-lock performed by the software. If it loses the external
reference, the board may work in the free oscillation mode or memory mode.
It outputs such signals as: square waves of 32.768MHz, 8.192MHz, 4.096MHz,
2.048MHz, 1.024MHz, 8kHz and 4kHz; TTL level signal of 4MHz, 8kHz and 4kHz;
RS422 level signal of 8.192MHz, 2.048MHz, 1.024MHz, 8kHz and 4kHz.
It reports the information on the board to the background via the SLT board and
receives commands from both of the background and SLT board.
Because it is capable of providing all functions of the SYN board, so it can be used as
the C804SYN board. It is also compatible with the third-level clock.
Its active/standby phasic synchronization circuit design ensures the phase
synchronization between the active and standby board. Since the phase of standby
board is synchronous to that of the active board, negative impacts on the external
equipment is reduced as more as possible.

CKB Motherboard of the Clock Frame

Functions
As the motherboard of the clock frame, CKB functions to transmit the clock signal. On
one hand, it will connect to the internal clock of the upper level (trunk 8KHz, 2048kbit/s
and 2048kHz), on the other hand, it will output various clock signals of SPCE (32MHz,
8KHz, 4MHz, 2MHz and 1MHz etc.) and provides the communication ports. In addition,
it provides 2MHz and 8KHz differential signals to thirty-two channels, where they are
used as the timing reference of other frames in the AM and SM modules.

Implications of the switch and jumper

There are seven jumpers on the motherboard marked from SW1 to S7 with the
silk-screen mark on the board. They are defined as follows:

Board Manual
C&C08 Digital SPC Switching System B-0303

(1) SW1 is the 8-bit jumper indicating IDs of the clock frame. ID of the clock frame is
from ID5 to ID9, of which, the ID9 is the high-order position and ID5 is the low-order
position. Here follows implications of the SW1:

Generally, IDs of the clock frame in the AM module are o, therefore, the default setting
of SW1 is all ON.
(2) S4: 4-bit jumper that controls the communication mode between the CKS board of
the clock frame with the host. While the clock frame is used in the AM module, the
master/slave communication mode is used between CKS and host. At that time, all
jumpers should be set as ON.
(3) S7 is used for the expansion purpose and all should be set as OFF state.

CKS Clock Board (Combining the Second-level

and Third-level Clock)

Functions
Functioning as the board that generates the reference clock source for the SPCE clock
system, the CKS board contains the second-level high-staibility constant temperature
crystal chip. By tracing the external reference signal, screening jitter and wandering of
the external reference signal, it is capable of ensuring the high accuracy and stability of
the timing signal and then supplies the high-quality clock reference to SPCE. Since the
CKS board combines the second-level and third-level clock system in the board, it can
provide either the second-level or the third-level clock as required.
It is capable of providing three types of ports for the input reference signal: 8kHz,
2048kHz and 2048kbit/s. Besides these, it also provides the BITS interface that can
provide both 2048kHz and 2048kbit/s standard output interfaces.

Implications of the indicator light

There are seventeen indicator lights on the CKS board, of which, only one is the red
light and all other lights are green. Please see Table 1 for implications of the indicator
light.

*Note 1: While operating in the tracing mode, the CKS board will reset the phase if the
phase jumping or unstable frequency occur in the reference source and surpass the
specificated threshold. At this time, the F0 indicator light flashes every second until the
phase resetting is completed.
*Note 2: There are six indicator lights of the reference source on the C841CKS board,
including R8K0, R8K1, 2MB0, 2MB1, 2M0 and 2M1. The light is turned on while the
corresponding external reference source is selected. Lights corresponding to the
reference source not selected will be turned off. Of six reference sources, R8K0 has
the highest priority (except another source is set via the background as the highest
priority). The default reference clock is R8K0 if it is available. If R8K0 is not available,
then R8K1 will be taken as the reference source. Therefore, we can deduce that if all
reference sources are not available after turning on the power, F0 light is on and R8K0
is on as well (default). The changeover from the “not available” to the “available” is
indicated by the state changeover of the F0 light from On to Off.
*Note 3: While the board is set as the second-level clock, the REFA indicator light is
turned on when the frequency deviation surpasses 0.4ppm. Compared with this, when
the board is set as the third-level clock, the REFA indicator light is turned on when the
frequency deviation surpasses 4.6ppm. Checks of the frequency deviation will only be
performed when the board enters the tracing state. If the frequency deviation is too
large, the board will automatically enters the memory state, which will last until the
reference source is restored to the normal state.

Implications of the switch and jumper

There are five jumpers on the C841CKS board. Specific settings of these jumpers are
as follows:
(1) S1 and S2 are the 4-bit jumper that controls two 2048kbit/s(E1)channels of the
reference source. If the 2048kbit/s(E1)signal is employed as the reference source, the
matched resistance of the port may be selected from 120 or 75 . A variety of line
matching will be achieved by setting S1 and S2 in different way. (Note: when both CKS
boards are in the position, they should have the same matched resistance.)
a. S1 and S2 are set as follows while the transmission line of the reference source
employs the twisted pair line of 120 :

CTX CENTREX Operator Console Card

Functions
Inserted into the ISA slot of PC, the CTX card may be used as the Centrex operator
console. It connects to the DCN board of SPCE via the common twisted pair and
transmits the data, voice data and control information of the Centrex console via the
2B+D port. Therefore, it is capable of providing basic functions of the U port of the
ISDN card.

Implications of the indicator light

The e is only one indicator light on the C802CTX board. It flashes every second while
the board works well (the U port is not activated meanwhile). Or it can flashes rapidly
(flashes multiple times per second) while the board works well (the U port is activated
meanwhile). Other states of the light indicate that the board does not work properly.

DRC Board of the E16 Board

Functions
Due to the limitation on the dimensions of the board, peripheral circuit of the sixteen E1
ports on the E16 board can not be designed into the same board. Therefore, another
small board: DRC board is used to expand the area of the E16 board. The DRC board
provides transformer separation between the input/output E1 signal and the external
E1 signal. At the same time, it provides the instantaneous high-voltage protection
circuit on both of the line side and logic side, which can bear the 1500V (common
mode) and 20~200V (differential mode) voltage shock and provides the perfect
function of grounding for lightning. In addition, the DRC board also matches the
transmitted signal, places them in the new order to facilitate the distribution. It consists
of two types: DRCA and DRCB. They provides ports corresponding to 75 (coaxial
cable) and 120 (shielded twisted pair) respectively.

CB11DTF1 E1 Digital Trunk Board

Functions
(1) Provides two E1 (32 timeslots) PCM interfaces to connect with other switches.
(2) Extracts 8K clock from the upper-level exchange to send to the switch system as
the reference clock source, so that the switch can synchronize with other switches.
(3) Provides R2 line signaling transceiving function.
(4) CB11DTF1 board provides two kinds of transmission frame structures of E1
interface: CCS and CAS. The board configured with CCS frame structure can be
applied to such networking modes as TUP, ISUP, PRA, PHI and V5, etc. The board
configured with CAS frame structure can be applied to R2 signaling networking mode.

Principles
The system position of CB11DTF1 in the switch. In terms of structure, CB11DTF1 is
inserted in the digital trunk frame of the switch of overseas version. Its internal
interfaces are mainly 2Mbit/s HW signals and the clock signals (4M/2M/8K) and
asynchronous serial ports communication signals, and external interfaces are two E1
interfaces meeting demands of ITUT G.703.
CB11DTF1 realizes the conversion between two HW messages and the HDB3 codes
on E1 interface. The board operating in the CAS frame structure mode, reports the
signaling code changes of F1~F15 frame TS16 on the PCM circuit to the switching
system MPU according to R2 signaling regulations, and sends the signaling codes to
be sent on PCM by MPU on TS16 of the corresponding frame according to R2
signaling regulations.
Two interface impedance modes (75ohm unbalanced/120ohm balanced) are available
for choice, and they use 75ohm coaxial cables and 120ohm symmetrical twisted pair
respectively.

Indicator Meanings
Altogether CB11DTF board has 17 indicators, and they are defined as follows:
Š RUN: the running indicator, which flashes once every 0.5s before the board is in
service, and flashes once every 1s whenafter the board is in service.
Š CAS: signaling mode indication

Š LLB2: the 2nd channel of relay self loop indication.
Š RLB2: the 2nd channel of remote end loop back indication.
Š RRA2: the 2nd channel of frame remote alarm indication.
Š RMA2: the 2nd channel of multiframe remote alarm indication.
Š SLP2: the 2nd channel of slip frame indication.
Š LOS2: the 2nd channel of signal loss indication.
Š RCL2: indication that the 2nd channel of signal is not received.

Meanings of Switches and Jumpers

There are five toggle switches on the board, and each switch has the following
configuration and functions:
S11: used to select ROM or RAM as DSP operating mode. In normal working, 1 and 2
are set to ON, and 3 and 4 are set to OFF, indicating that the program is in ROM.
When the emluator is used in debugging, the two EPROMs are replaced with RAM,
meanwhile, 1 and 2 are set to OFF, and 3 and 4 are set to ON. 1 and 3 correspond to
DSP1, and 2 and 4 correspond to DSP2 respectively.
S12: used to select serial port. In operation, 1 and 2 are set to OFF, 3 and 4 are set to
ON, and 485 serial port is selected to communicate with NOD board. In debugging, 1
and 2 are set to ON, 3 and 4 are set to OFF, and 232 serial port is selected to
communicate with PC.
S14/S21/S22: used to select the matched resistance from 75 ohm and 120 ohm. S21
and 1 and 2 of S14 configure the 1st E1 interface, S22 and 3 and 4 of S14 configure
the 2nd E1 interface. If the 1 and 2 of S21/S22 are set to ON, 1/3 of S14 is set to ON,

Meanings of Switches and Jumpers

There are five toggle switches in the board, and each switch has the following
configuration and functions:
S11: the switch for selecting ROM or RAM as DSP operating mode. When normal, 1
and 2 are set to ON, and 3 and 4 are set to OFF, indicating that the program is in
ROM. When the emluator is used in debugging, the two EPROMs are replaced with
RAM, meanwhile, 1 and 2 are set to OFF, and 3 and 4 are set to ON. 1 and 3
correspond to DSP1, and 2 and 4 correspond to DSP2 respectively.
S12: the switch for the selection of serial port. In operation, 1 and 2 are set to OFF, 3
and 4 are set to ON, and 485 serial port is selected to communicate with NOD board.
In debugging, 1 and 2 are set to ON, 3 and 4 are set to OFF, and 232 serial port is
selected to communicate with PC.
S14/S21/S22: used to select the matched resistance from 75 ohm and 120 ohm. S21
and 1 and 2 of S14 configure the 1st E1 interface, S22 and 3 and 4 of S14 configure
the 2nd E1 interface. If the 1 and 2 of S21/S22 are set to ON, 1/3 of S14 is set to ON,
75 ohm resistance is to be selected. If the 3 and 4 of S21/S22 are set to ON, 1/3 of
S14 is set to OFF, 120 ohm resistance is to be selected. Other switch combinations
are reserved.

the reference clock source, so that the switch can synchronize with other switches.
(3) Provides R2 line signaling transceiving function.
(4) CB12DTF1 board provides two kinds of transmission frame structures in E1
interface: CCS and CAS. The board configured with CCS frame structure can be
applied to such networking modes as TUP, ISUP, PRA, PHI and V5, etc. The board

on the E1 interface. When the board operates in the CAS frame structure mode, it
reports F1~F15 frame TS16 signaling code changes in PCM circuit to the switching
system MPU according to R2 signaling regulations, and meanwhile, on TS16 of the
corresponding frame, it transmits the signaling code to be sent on PCM by MPU in R2
signaling regulations.
Two interface impedance modes (75ohm unbalanced /120ohm balanced) are available
for choice, and they use 75ohm coaxial cables and 120ohm symmetrical twisted pair
respectively.

Indicator Meanings

E16 16-channel E1 Interface Board

Functions
As the board that provides 16-channel standard 2M ports to AM/CM modules of the
C&C08 SPCE, E16 board can either be used to directly access RSA or be used as the
inter-office trunk. For the former use, it can replace the 40M optical interface board in
the direct access of AM/CM to RSM. Therefore, it can not only simplify the networking
topology, improve the networking flexibility, but also reduce the call delay and improve
the system stability. In addition, E16 board also provide functions of 1K TS switching
and HDLC link processing, in which, its output wave form complies with the ITU G.703
specifications (ER is less than 1E-9 while the transmission distance is less than one
kilometer and its jitter suppression performance can meet related requirements defined
in the ITU G.823 specifications.) Plus, E16 board can also provide two ports to facilitate
its applications in various circumstances: 75 (coaxial cable) or 120 (shielded twisted
pair.)

HSL Board

Functions
The H301HSL board provides two V.35 ports (transmitting rate of NX64K(N 1 31))
and two FE1 ports. It is compatible with slots of the ASL and DSL board. Of both ports,
the V.35 port is capable of working in both DCE and DTE modes with its clock selected
from the internal clock, external clock and slave clock; the other port, FEI, may be used
to connect to the remote DB unit or can replace the HW line to transmit data while the
transmitting rate of the V.35 port is more than 384Kb/s. The board can perform
phase-lock to various clock resource and can extract the clock from the FE1 port
taking use of the clock or phase lock provided by the motherboard.

Implications of the indicator light

RUN indicator light (Red)
There are double working states of the RUN indicator light:

1. Fast flashes at the interval of 0.25 second

It flashes at the interval of 0.25 second during the process from empowering the board
to the HSL self-check completed. Viewed from the maintenance console, the board is
red.

2. Slow flashes at the interval of one second.

It flashes at the interval of one second after the HSL board self-check is completed.
Viewed from the maintenance console, the board is green.
RXD and TXD indicator light (Green)
RXD and TXD indicator light on the HSL board indicate the receiving/transmitting state
of each V.35 port. The RXD indicator light is turned on while the V.35 port is receiving
the data and TXD indicator light is turned on while the V.35 port is transmitting data.

Note:
The indicator light is turned off while the port only transmits or receives zeros or ones.

LFA and LOS indicator light

They indicate operating states of the FE1 port on the HSL board, of which, LFA
indicates the frame misalignment of the FE1 board and LOS indicates the signal loss of
the FEI port.

MCC Module Communication Control Board

Functions
MCC(Module Communication Control)may be divided into two types based on
functions and positions: MCCM and MCCS. For the former, it provides the signaling
communicate link between SM and AM and transfers the control information from SM
to SM, from SM to MCCM and from SM to STN. It also provides the serial port for the
purpose of maintenance. For the latter, MCCM performs functions of the master
control CPU, controls the whole AM/CM module, provides interfaces to BAM and
communicates with BAM. MCCM and MCCS share the same hardware. Difference in
their functions are achieved by loading different programs.

CB11MFC0 Russian & NO5 Register Signaling

Board

Functions
When adopts NO5 or Russian signaling system as the interoffice signaling,
CB11MFC0 is engaged in the receiving and transmission of the multifrequency signals.
The board can be configured as 16 channels or 32 channels with data setting.
CB11MFC0 features the following:
(1) Based on the MPU commands, it sends forward or backward multifrequency
register signals to the opposite office through the switching network.
(2) It receives and identifies the multifrequency register signals arriving through the
incoming trunk via the switching network, and reports the result to MPU.
(3) Self-test function. It checks the working status of this board after the reset upon
power-on or forced by MPU, and it can perform self loop test through the relay.
(4) It applies to such signaling systems as NO5 and Russian at the same time, after
the board software is replaced.

Principles
CB11MFC0 board principles are illustrated in Figure 1. The digital signals processing
(DSP) circuit is adopted to realize the receiving and transmission of the interoffice
multifrequency signals, and the digital signals processor is connected with the chip
microcomputer of this board through the parallel ports. MPU communicates with the
chip microcomputer via the mailbox. When transmitting the interoffice multifrequency
signals, according to the MPU commands, the chip microcomputer controls the digital
signals processor to generate the multifrequency signals as demanded, and switches
them to UHW through the switching network of this board. The numbers received by
the digital signals processor are written in its internal RAM, and read by the chip
microcomputer through parallel ports. The transmission and receiving of the
multifrequency register signals of 32 channels are handled by a high-speed digital
signals processor.

CC04MFC2 NO7 Continuity Check Board

Functions
(1) Based on MPU commands, it transmits 2KHz single frequency signals to the
remote exchange through the switching network It receives and identifies the arrived
single frequency register signals coming from the incoming trunk through the switching
network, and reports the result to MPU, to realize the continuity check function.
(2) Based on MPU commands, it transmits forward or backward multifrequency
register signals to the remote exchange through the switching network It receives and
identifies the mutifrequency register signals arriving from the incoming trunk through
the switching network, and reports the result to MPU.
(3) Having self-test function. It checks the working status of this board after the reset
upon power-on or forced by MPU, and can also perform self loop test through the relay.

Principles
MFC board principles are illutrated in Figure 1. It adopts the digital signals processing
(DSP) circuit to realize the receiving and transmission of single frequency and
multifrequency signals between exchanges, and the digital signals processor contacts
with the chip microcomputer of this board through the parallel ports. MPU
communicates with the chip microcomputer via the mailbox. When transmitting the
interoffice multifrequency signals, according to the MPU commands, the chip
microcomputer controls the digital signals processor to generate the multifrequency
signals as demanded, and switches them to UHW through the switching network of this
board. The numbers received by the digital signals processor are written in its internal
RAM, and read by the chip microcomputer through parallel ports. The transmission and
receiving of the multifrequency register signals of 32 channels are handled by a
high-speed digital signals processor. To add the on-site test function of the switch, and
further equipment maintenance, CC04MFC2 is added with the continuity check
function on the basis of normal NO7 services, adopting semi-permanent connection
mode. The signal on HW of MFC board through DT, is transmitted to the remote end
and loops back. It is up to MFC to receive the signal and judge whether the
communication in this channel is normal. With different configurations, the standards of
different countries can be satisfied. This function can be realized by adopting new DSP
software on the basis of the existing MFC board hardware.

initialization code and bottom layer drivers of the switch are stored in BIOS. MPU board
communicates with other boards (NOD, MFC, LAP, SIG, EMA, OPT, MC2, MEM, ALM,
etc.) via the on-board mailbox interface to control various boards in main control
[Link] real time clock on the board provides real time clock and stores switch data
checksum in its RAM. Flash memory is mainly used to store MPU programs and
module data of the switch.

RMB RSA and RSB Motherboard of the

Subscriber Frame (only for Hongkong)

Functions
As the motherboard of the remote subscriber frame, they are only for the
implementation in Hongkong now. It has twelve slots that ensure that the maximum
capacity of the board is up to 12 16 192 subscriber lines. At the same time, there
are one TSS, one DRV, one PWX slot and two RSA slots on the board.
The board provides following functions:
(1) Extending the transmission distance and providing complete functions of the local
user to the remote user by connecting to the mother office via RSA. At the same time,
two RSA boards operate in the mutual-assistance mode, that is, when one board fails,
the other board will perform the continuity and call through of the failed board (traffic
will fall at the same time).
(2) Power supply to different motherboards of the same rack also work in the
mutual-assistance mode (±5V and ringing current.) When the power supply to one
frame fails, the power supply board of another frame will empower both frames (the
current board and the frame whose power supply board fails). Therefore, the
mutual-assistant mechanism will ensure the reliability of the power supply system.
(3) Providing eight environmental alarm variable ports to the RSA board.

Implications of the indicator light

None.

Implications of the switch and jumper

DIP: S1 is the 2-BIT DIP. While it is set as ON, the second alarm-channel ALARM2 will
be used for the fan alarm; while it is set as OFF, the second alarm-channel ALARM2
will be used for the external alarm input.
Jumper: S2 and S3 are jumpers. While JA1 is connected with the power monitoring
line, the short-circuit ring will not be added; while JA1 is free, the short-circuit ring will
be added to short-circuit the S2 and S3.

CB02SIG0 Signal Tone Board

Functions
(1) Provide all signal tones necessary for the switch. There are totally 128 signal tones,
occupying 4 HWs of switching NET board.
(2) Implement the loading of board software and all data files.
(3) On-site record and on-site loading when voice content is changed.
(4) All voice contents are loaded from BAM dynamically in the form of files.

Principle
Figure 1 is the principle diagram of CB02SIG0. One CB02SIG0 board provides 4 HWs
and 128 playback timeslots. Its playback principle is the same with that of CB01SIG
and CQ02SPT. Voice data are stored in the voice storage equipped with board in the
form of Pcm Raw Data (8K sampling rate, monophony 8 bits, A-law or µ-law) file
format. Board logic retrieves voice data from the storage in turn under the strict control
of clock, and converts them to 2M voice code flow via parallel/serial conversion. The
maximum size of voice storage is 64M, and the maximum voice length is 137 minutes.

CQ02SPT0 Trunk Driving and Voice Board

Functions
CQ02SPT0 board provides various intelligent voices for intelligent services and plays
the service prompt tone of card station.

Principle
One SPT card provides 128 playback channels, the playback content, playback time
and playback length of each channel are completely controlled by MPU software in a
dynamic way. Voices of SPT board are stored in SPT board storage in the form of files,
and the voice files will not be lost after the board is powered down. Voice files can be
loaded from background dynamically. The voice storage on one SPT board is up to
64M for saving 8192 voice files, and the total playback length is 137 minutes.

CB01 VMS Analog Subscriber Board Driving the

Message Indicator Light

Functions
(1) Providing sixteen analog subscriber ports;
(2) Providing the BORSCHT function (feeding, overvoltage/overcurrent protection,
ringing, surveillance, compiling, hybrid and test);
(3) Providing both ports with the -140V DC to drive the message indicator light at the
terminal end;
(4) Transmitting FSK control signal to the terminal to drive the corresponding display
on the terminal monitor while there is no ringing.
Note: The last two functions need specific terminals supporting.

Implications of the indicator light

Table 1 below illustrates implications of the indicator light on the ASL board:

Name Color Implications Normal state

RUN Red Operating indicator light* Flash

Note*:
The red light flashes at intervals of 500ms while the board is being empowered or
receives the resetting command from the host, then the board enters the self-check
state and waiting for further setting command from the host. If the board receives the
setting command in five seconds, the subscriber board starts to operate and the red
light flashes at intervals of one second. Otherwise, the light will flash at intervals of
500ms, and the board will perform the self-check and repeat the procedure described
above.

Implications of the switch and jumper

None.

External distribution
The subscriber cable (sixteen pairs of the subscriber line) is connected to the
corresponding cable port of the motherboard of the ASL board.
