FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC TOURISTS REVISIT INTENTION APPORCH
APPLIED IN KERALA TOURISM

Introduction
According to United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Tourism entails the
movement of people to countries or places outside their usual environment for
personal/professional purposes. Tourism has become a crucial commercial market in many
developing countries. Developing countries are seeking to improve and diversify their tourism
offerings in order to attract international and domestic tourists. A growing number of studies are
focusing on the growth of tourism. Among other things, the satisfaction of tourists and the
intention of revisit them are considered vital to ensure the success of every destination.
In developing economics, the service market accounts for approximately two-third of the GDP.
Among different service markets, the tourism market remains one of the largest single source of
foreign exchange earnings for many countries. Tourism market is one of the vital market and has
high potential to play a crucial role in the development of the country. Tourists are the consumer
in the tourist market, and broadly, they are divided into domestic and foreign tourists. The most
organized international segment is looking forward to explore new profit centers in domestic
tourism being, small business in organized sector are planning to diversify themselves or to
supplement income with other means. The study aims at identifying the tourism attributes, which
influence the foreign and domestic tourists to revisit the destination/ products by taking the
Kerala tourism market as an example. The study also focuses on formulation of “tourist revisit
intention theory" which will be an aid to the tourism organization.
Significance of the study
The study on the foreign and domestic revisit intention approach applied in the Kerala tourism
will be benefit for the Kerala tourism market to find the relationship between foreign and
domestic tourist revisit intension. The study focused on the examination of the relationship
between tourism attributes such as tourism accessibility, accommodation, attraction, core
heritage tourism experience and foreign tourists revisit intension. The flow of foreign tourists
into the country can help to earn valuable foreign exchange earnings.
Statement of problem
The purpose of this study is to provide an insight about the impact of Tourist Satisfaction on
Tourist Revisit in Kerala. Data were collected from various tourist destinations in Kerala. The
findings suggest that tourist satisfaction was found to have significant positive effects on revisit
intention. An understanding of these mechanisms can help governments to create appropriate
policies to support the sustainable development of tourism and promote their tourism industries
by fostering tourist satisfaction.

Objectives of the study
• To identify relationship between tourism factors and foreign tourist satisfaction
• To identify relationship between tourism factors and domestic tourist satisfaction
• To identify relationship between foreign tourist satisfaction and intention to revisit a
destination
• To identify relationship between domestic tourist satisfaction and intention to revisit a
destination
• To identify relationship between domestic tourist revisit intention and foreign tourist
revisit intention
Scope of the study
➢ Content scope
This study is conducted to find out the relationship between the foreign tourist revisit
intension and domestic tourist revisit intention.
➢ Geographical scope
The study is conducted on some of the tourist destination in Kerala.
Methodology and data collection

The study will be conducted among the tourists.
➢ Sampling plan
100 people will be randomly chosen for study.
The data will be collected through structured questionnaire.
➢ Data collection
The study will be based on primary data. The primary data will be collected through
questionnaire specially designed for survey.

Correlation method is used for data analysis

Limitations
▪ The target area is limited due to the study is only focused in Kerala tourist destinations. No
other destinations are considered.
▪ Shortage of time and money will be limit the number of sampling into minimum.
▪ Answer given by the respondents have been assumed true.
