3D Garment Simulation for Fashion

This document outlines research on developing an automatic process for converting 2D clothing patterns into 3D garments. The goal is to minimize user interaction by making the processes more intelligent. It discusses preliminary experiments using existing software. The research will develop three modules: a 2D pattern editor, a 3D body adaptation method, and an automated pre-positioning and simulation module. The body adaptation module will enrich 3D body models with semantic information like measurements extracted from feature points. The pre-positioning module will automatically position 2D patterns on the 3D body and adjust the garment mesh for a realistic fit with minimal distortion.
