Day 1
Engage
Have students view story “A Day at the Park” and talk about it
Teacher writes sentence from story on the c/b. She asks Jason to
circle the nouns. “The dogs eat bones”. Student circle the nouns. Ask if
they can do the action for these nouns. Teacher underlines ‘eat’.
Teacher will ask students what do we call eat a noun also. Expected
answer (no). Students say if they know what is “eat”. Teacher says ok,
there are nouns and we have a set of words that we call verbs. A verb
is when you are doing an action (doing word). Once you do a movement it
is called a verb. Have students view power-point presentation with
examples of verbs.
Explore
Teacher says words of a song. Allow students to repeats words then
you sing allowing students to listen then follow. After song is done ask
students what were some of the action/doing words in the song. List
words as students tell what they heard, jump, spin, roll, fall, move etc
Explain
Allow students to list independently other doing words. Accept words
with inflectional endings, After writing verbs given , allow students to
know that for this week they will only give the root words. Those words
must not have( s, es, ed or ing).
Elaborate
Allow students to do actions. Say to students we will only use the root
verb. We are not going to add (ing). Teacher models what she wants
students to do. Students I can clap. I dance, I sing, I run etc. She then
takes students. Allow the students to do the action. She looks at the
students and say. They clap, they dance, they run etc
Teacher and students calls verbs previously written.

Day 2
Engage
Teacher and students review previous lesson. They say what are verbs
and list verbs. Revisits story and have students do action while teacher
reads. Teacher holds up word cards with verbs. She calls verbs then
she allows students to call verbs. Teacher holds a word and does the
action. She then says an oral sentence. I can clap my hands. I can
stomp my foot. I can brush my hair. Etc
Explore
Students choose a verb from the mystery bag. They call their verbs.
Students place that verb on the body part than can do that action, eg,
clap (hands), stomp (feet) eat ( mouth) sing (mouth) talk ( mouth) snap
(fingers) etc
Explain
Students use their words to make oral sentences. I clap with my hands,
I run with my feet. I talk with my mouth. Etc Students name other
body parts that they can use to do actions. They make sentences.
Teacher corrects them where necessary and reminds them to stick to
the root verb. Teacher praises students for their effort.
Elaborate
Teacher places sentence strips on chalkboard. Students read
sentences. Students circle the verbs in each sentence. After circling
the verb, each student does the action.

Circle the verbs in each sentence.

Teacher ask individuals to do actions/verbs. She says to students
I want you to make a sentence about what is being [Link]
will do an action first modelling what she wants to be done. (waves
her hand) The teacher waves her hand. Responses from children

3. The boys runs.
Teacher states the day’s objectives. Today we will be looking
at verbs we can use when we talk about one noun.

Teacher allows students to read sentences from
strips/chalkboard.
The girl skips with a rope.

The man shouts at the boy. Etc
Students identify the verb. They say what they realize about
each [Link] answer all the verbs end with a ‘s’
Explain
Teacher explains to students that once we are talking about
one noun/singular, we add ‘s’ to the verb. Teacher repeats
sentences for children. The girl sits. The boy talks. The dog
jumps. The cat runs. The student shouts. The principal sits.
She uses words such as she, he,It,[Link]
Elaborate
Give students pictures with nouns. Allow them to make oral
sentences, adding ‘s’ to the verbs. The girl swings. The boy
sings etc

Day 4
Engage
Teacher writes sentences on the c/b. She allows students to read.
Students must say what is wrong with these sentences. Mother catch
the chick. Sister watch the television. Brother mix the tea. If
students are not able to say what is wrong, teacher will say what is
wrong. She /He will state day’s objective.
Explore
Teacher writes words on chalkboard. Students identify and call words.
They say what is common among these words. They end with ch’,x,
ss,sh. Words such as mix,fix,box,match,catch,patch,watch,fish,wish,etc
Explain
Teacher explains to students that these verbs take ‘es’ at the end
when we talk about one noun. The boy fixes, The girl watches, The
teacher matches, The rat catches etc
Elaborate
Give students pictures in their groups. Allow them to add ‘es’ to these
verbs. Allow students to make oral sentences. Mother washes the
dress. Father fixes the [Link] watches the television. Etc. Praise
students for their efforts.
