PAST PERFECT SIMPLE – se foloseste:
O actiune care a avut loc inaintea unei actiuni trecute sau a unui moment trecut (an aaction which happened before a past action or a past moment):
The children had already tidied their room by the time their parents came home.
She had cooked dinner by eight o'clock.
O actiune care s-a terminat in trecut si ale carei rezultate sunt vizibile in trecut (an action which happened in the past and whose results are visible in
the past).
Mary had washed the car so the ground around it was wet.
Past Perfect este echivalentul lui Present Perfect in vorbirea indirecta:
„I have lost my purse.” She told me.
She told me that she had lost her purse.

EXPRESSIONS
already, for, since, yet, after, before, until, as soon as, by the time, etc
PAST PERFECT SIMPLE BEFORE PAST SIMPLE: Jane had finished the project before we arrived.
PAST SIMPLE AFTER PAST PERFECT SIMPLE: We arrived after Jane had finished the project.
