Class IX Maths: Triangles Assignment

The document contains 15 math problems related to triangles and geometry. Problem 1 asks to prove that a line joining the vertices of two isosceles triangles with a common base bisects them at right angles. Problem 2 involves proving properties about angles and sides in a figure with a square and parallel lines. Problem 3 asks to prove two triangles are congruent based on equal corresponding sides and included angles.

Assignment – 4
Class – IX Mathematics - Triangles
1. If two isosceles triangles have a common base, prove that
the line joining their vertices bisects them at right angles.
2. In figure, ABCD is a square and EF is parallel to diagonal BD
and EM = FM. Prove that
(i) DF = BE (i) AM bisects ∠BAD.

3. In the given figure, triangles PQC and PRC are such that
QC = PR and PQ = CR. Prove that ∠PCQ = ∠CPR.

4. In the given figure, PS is median produced up to F and

QE and RF are perpendiculars drawn from Q and R,
prove that QE = RF.

5. In the given figure, T and M are two points inside a

parallelogram PQRS such that PT = MR and PT || MR.
Then prove that
(a) ΔPTR ≌ ΔRMP
(b) RT || PM and RT = PM

6. In ∆PQR, PQ = QR and ∠R = 50°, then find the measure of ∠Q.

7. In the given figure, AP and DP are bisectors of two

adjacent angles A and D of quadrilateral ABCD. Prove
that 2 ∠APD = ∠B + ∠C.
8. CDE is an equilateral triangle formed on a side CD of a square
ABCD. Show that ∆ 𝐴𝐷𝐸 ≅ ∆ 𝐵𝐶𝐸.

9. In fig. BA ⊥ AC, DE ⊥ DF such that BA = DE and BF = EC. Show

that ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 ≅ ∆ 𝐷𝐸𝐹.

10. O is a point in the interior of a square ABCD such that OAB is an equilateral triangle.
Show that ∆𝑂𝐶𝐷 is an isosceles triangle.

11. The line segments joining the midpoints M and N of parallel sides AB and DC
respectively of a trapezium ABCD is perpendicular to both the sides AB and DC. Prove
that AD = BC.

12. In a ∆ 𝐴𝐵𝐶, D is the midpoint of side AC such that BD = ½ AC. Show that ∠ 𝐴𝐵𝐶 is a
right triangle.

13. If the bisector of the vertical angle of a triangle bisects the base, prove that the triangle
is isosceles.

14. Prove that the medians of an equilateral triangle are equal.

15. In the given figure, AY ⊥ ZY and BY ⊥ XY such that AY = ZY

and BY = XY. Prove that AB = ZX.
