I. RATIONALE
Child sexual abuse has been a significant public health problem most
especially during the pandemic. This has been a major factor that contributes
how the person thinks, acts, and feels over a lifetime as it can result in short-and
long-term physical, mental and behavioral health consequences. Thus, adults
most especially the parents play a big role in the prevention of child sexual abuse
most especially at home.
Based on observations and interviews of parents of children admitted at
the center the common factors that had contributed to the incidence of said
sexual abuse among the children at the shelter are the parents lack of
knowledge on the dynamics of sexual abuse, parenting styles, lack of awareness
on the rights of children, poverty and blended family set-up.
On the other hand, interventions for child abuse are mostly focused on
the treatment for victims and criminal-justice oriented approaches for
perpetrators which are considered to be the most vital. However, investment on
the prevention and root causes of abuses must also be considered thus the
conduct of this CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION SEMINAR to parents of
children who are under the custody of the Child and Family Service Philippines
Inc.
II. OBJECTIVES
To raise the awareness of parents regarding child sexual abuse
To provide an opportunity to parents to learn child sexual abuse preventions
