Welcome
to Hitachi Cooling & Heating,
climate control solutions
Introduction

Time for change

With governments across Europe making legally binding
commitments to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, Hitachi is
leading the way with cooling and heating solutions powered
by renewable energy.

It is clear that our planet is changing and changes need to

be made to the way in which we heat our homes.

Hitachi’s Yutaki range of air to water heat pumps can

provide that alternative.

With the support of Government schemes, changes in the

way we build homes and homeowners wanting a better
solution to high fossil fuel prices, there is clearly a need
for something different. Something more sustainable.

With a variety of outputs and water temperatures, the

Yutaki range can provide the perfect solution, no matter
the type of property.

Hitachi has developed simple to install, simple to

commission and most importantly simple to operate
units that are of the highest quality, efficiency and have low
noise levels - so we think we have ticked every box!

easy maintenance components, thus allowing straightforward
maintenance and ensuring cost savings.

Connections
– Filter ball shut-off valve: Yutaki units are fitted
with a ball valve containing an interchangeable
cylindrical filter that is easy to inspect and remove
for maintenance work. The individual valve has
two important functions: to perfectly seal the
ball valves and to carefully filter the fluid, with its
high-reliability protecting all the components in
Hitachi's Yutaki systems.

– Compared to traditional use of three components

(one filter and two shut-off valves), Hitachi's Filter
ball guarantees lower charge losses, in addition to
the obvious benefits in terms of cost, installation
Ball valve and space.

– Accessibility: easy access to all components from

the front of the machine.

– Pipes: the pipes are perfectly aligned at the back of

the unit, making installation much easier compared
to other manufacturers.

in new build properties. This is due to the introduction
of tighter regulations towards NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy
Building) for new build properties, which has resulted in
the effective phasing out of fossil fuels as a heat source
and the introduction of renewable energy heat solutions
such as Air Source Heat Pumps.

New Government Grants

With the availability of a SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) grant of
Up to
up to €6,500 for Air Source Heat Pumps to replace inefficient fossil fuel boilers in

Common questions

Powered by AI

Communication interfaces like KNX and Modbus enrich the functionality of heat pump systems by integrating them into broader smart home or building management systems. They allow for remote control and monitoring, which can lead to optimized energy use and increased user comfort. For example, integrating with KNX can help users set schedules and automate responses to environmental changes, thereby potentially enhancing energy efficiency . Modbus interfaces provide similar benefits in facilities that require coordinated control across multiple devices, promoting seamless interaction and data exchange .

Sound levels directly impact the suitability of heat pump systems in residential areas; lower noise levels are preferable to meet comfort requirements. Indoor unit sound levels ranging from 37 to 47 dB(A) and outdoor levels up to 74 dB(A) affect community noise regulations and user comfort. Units with higher sound pressure, especially in densely populated residential spaces, may require additional noise mitigation solutions, impacting the choice of a particular heat pump model depending on sensitivity to background noise .

Reversible heating-cooling models offer substantial advantages for year-round climate control by using a single system capable of swapping between heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. This integrated approach eliminates the need for separate systems, leading to space and cost savings. Their flexible operating ranges, such as rated/max cooling power (4 to 20.6 kW), offer efficient adaptation to seasonal temperature variations. The ability to reverse operation for cooling broadens system applications and ensures usability regardless of outdoor temperature conditions .

The dimensions and weight of indoor units correlate with their performance capacities as larger and heavier units generally offer higher performance capabilities. For instance, an indoor unit weighing 62 kg with dimensions 890 x 670 x 370 mm has a maximum water flow up to 4.6 m3/h and is equipped with a larger backup heater capacity of 9 kW. In contrast, smaller units with less weight have lower capacities accordingly, aligning with lower water flow and heating capacities. This correlation is rooted in the ability of larger units to house more robust internal components necessary for greater efficiencies .

Temperature ranges for water outlets and ambient conditions are pivotal in dictating the energy efficiency and performance of heat pump systems. Outlet temperature ranges (20/60°C) allow systems to provide efficient heating across different climates. The ability to maintain maximum outlet temperatures even at low ambient temperatures (e.g., 60°C at -5°C) ensures system efficacy in cold environments; it enhances the Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) leading to energy savings. This flexibility supports consistent service across varying climate zones, demonstrating the system’s effectiveness in maintaining efficiency under diverse external temperatures .

Heat pump systems incorporate several design features that enhance their operational flexibility and efficiency across climates. Adjustable water outlet temperature range (20/60°C) allows adaptation to seasonal requirements. The capability to operate with cooling models and an extensive rated/max cooling power range (4 to 20.6 kW) enables the systems to offer both heating and cooling. Further, reversible models with efficient EER values, reaching up to 4, contribute to flexibility. These systems can accommodate various temperature ranges effectively by design, such as being operational down to -20°C in heating mode .

The Seasonal Heating Energy Efficiency (ηs) is affected by the temperature set for either 35°C or 55°C. For single-phase systems, ηs tends to be higher compared to three-phase systems at 35°C, but they become comparable at 55°C. Specifically, ηs for single systems is 181% at 35°C and 133% at 55°C. In contrast, for three-phase systems, ηs at 35°C ranges from 174% to 152% and for 55°C from 133% to 116%. These variations suggest that ηs is influenced by the system's phase configuration and the target operating temperature .

Power supply and electrical specifications affect both installation complexity and operational flexibility. Systems designed for multiple phase options (e.g., 230V single-phase or 400V three-phase) allow for greater adaptability to local grid standards across regions, simplifying installation. The need for varying fuse sizes (e.g., 16 A or 32 A) and appropriate cable widths ensures compatibility with regional electrical infrastructure. These specifications influence where and how systems can be effectively installed, impacting the broader functional range and cost-effectiveness of heat pump systems across different markets .

Including a backup electrical heater in heating systems can increase overall energy consumption, as these heaters are used when ambient conditions are insufficient for heat pump operation alone. The electrical heater's operation requires additional power input, for example, heaters can range from 3 kW to 9 kW based on the system size, impacting efficiency negatively when in use. The system's reliance on the electrical heater and its capacity can directly affect the Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) and energy efficiency ratios. The provision for phases indicates higher fuse sizes required, such as 32 A for larger systems, which reflects higher potential energy usage .

The expansion vessel and water flow specifications are crucial for maintaining system stability and efficiency in heat pump systems. The expansion vessel, with capacities like 6 L to 10 L, helps to accommodate the thermal expansion of water, preventing excessive pressure build-up. Proper water flow rates, with ranges such as 0.5 to 4.13 m3/h, ensure adequate heat exchange and system efficiency. These components together stabilize the hydraulic system, enhancing performance across varying load conditions and promoting longevity by reducing stress on piping and other components .
