In overpopulated China, a new trend has emerged—DINKIEDOM. According to the China Academy of Social
Science (CASS), more than a million Chinese couples have to be chosen as “dinkies” which means DUAL INCOME NO
KIDS. Most of these couples are well-educated:73% are teachers, journalists and government employees and more
than 80% of these are college graduates. These young, rich couples have opted for the freewheeling lifestyles of
dinkies. Many of them think that children are boring and time- wasting inconvenience. Forty-seven percent believe
that starting a family would lower their living standards. What they want is to work hard, earn money and make the
most of their youth and their time. Dinkiedom provides all these.
