Name of Organization: Coalition for Community Social Work Date Submitted 09/09/2011 1. List the goals and purposes of the organization: 2. This group seeks to enhance the education and practice skills of its members, promote community service and to raise awareness around the social work profession through community building efforts.

3. Statement of how the group intends to carry out these goals and purposes at Wayne State University: We plan to recognize outstanding social workers in our community and organize a panel of these social workers to present on campus or at another educational institution. We would like to host an educational workshop with a faculty member for social work students. We will volunteer as a group through holiday giving and other community volunteer resources.

Is your organization an affiliate with any national, regional, or local organization? 5. ______ YES ___X___ NO PLEASE NOTE: At such time as the purpose or regulations of any national, regional or local groups conflict with the policies of Wayne State University, the latter will prevail. 6. Requirements for membership:

7. Any student enrolled to the BSW or MSW program at Wayne State University. Must maintain academic program standards (minimum GPA, minimum credit hours, etc). If elected to an Executive Council position, must be able to meet bi-weekly and attend monthly university leadership training programs. For general membership, attendance at 75% of meetings. Executive Council must be in attendance at 90% of meetings.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL FULL MEMBERS MUST BE REGISTERED STUDENTS OF WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY (20% can be non-registered affiliates who have no voting rights, but can participate in the group activities.)

Officers and their duties (Do not list individual's names): EXECUTIVE COUNCIL: Co-Presidents: marketing, public relations, membership/recruiting new members, leading meetings, handles paperwork, public speaking VP: support presidential activities, find distributors (tee shirts, etc) Treasurer: handle finances, purchasing Secretary: take/distribute minutes, handles paperwork/printing, handle ballots/nominations, responsible for official group communication

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY CURRENTLY ENROLLED WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE OFFICERS

9. Eligibility requirements or qualifications necessary to run for office: _Must be admitted to a Social Work program (BSW or MSW).

10. 11. Method of nominating and electing new officers (list the process): Anonymous written nominations (form w/ positions and blanks next to them for names). Person must receive 1 nominations to be added to ballot for a given position. All members in good standing allowed to nominate/vote. Anonymous written ballot elections. Person who gets the most votes for each position is elected to that position.

12. Method of replacing officers: (Please address how to replace officers who leave or step down and how to impeach current officers who arent fulfilling their duties.) __In the event of an officer stepping down, the Executive Council will appoint a member to fulfill that officers duty for the remainder of their term. If officer does not maintain all membership qualifications, they will be removed from their position and someone will be appointed to fulfill their duties for the remainder of their term. Hard evidence must be presented that duties are not consistently being fulfilled. One warning by the Executive Council will issued to that officer and the officer will be given the opportunity to step down. If the officer chooses to remain in their position, their behavior must be rectified in the next 30 days. If duties continue to be neglected, officer will be informed of their removal from their position. All final decisions will be at the discretion of the Executive Council.

13. Time of year for electing new officers: __Spring Semester, around March/April

Number of members and officers necessary to constitute a quorum in order to conduct legal membership meetings, committee meetings, etc. (List as a separate percentage (%) for members and officers): Quorum of Executive Council must be 4/5 positions. General membership does not need to be present at meetings for decisions to be made.

15. Method of conducting meetings (Robert's Rules of Order or other established methods): __Roberts Rules of Order/Parliamentary Procedure

16. Method for members (not officers) to call emergency meetings or special events: _At least 1 member of the Executive Council must be notified of the meeting details (when, where, why, etc). It would then be the responsibility of that Executive Officer to notify the Executive Council.

17. Officer responsible for informing membership of emergency or special meetings: _Secretary

18. Membership dues (if applicable): NONE

16. The process for amending this recognition application and percentage of votes necessary for passage: Motion needs to pass within the group, amendment must be presented and voted on (with 80% general membership in agreement). The motion then goes into final

discussion with the Executive Council where the general memberships opinions and thoughts will be taken into concern but the final vote will be among the Council with a pass rate of 4/5.
