Complete the table below:
Instead of saying... Try saying...
I can't do this. Example: I need help in understanding this.
This is too hard. Example: It'll take some time to get this.
I give up. I will keep trying.
I tried and it didn't work. It didn’t work this time, but I'll keep working on it.
It's good enough. I am happy with what I did
I'm just not good at this. I can improve with more practice.
I'm just not going to get this. I will keep on going until I understand it.
It's not going to work anyway. It's a good idea to try it and see what happens.
My friend is intelligent,n and I can learn from
I'll never be as smart as my friend.
them.
This is as good as it's going to get. I'll strive to make it even better.
After completing the table, answer the following questions:
1. What are three of your greatest strengths?
1. Being adaptable
2. Being creative
3. Being innovative
2. What two things seem harder for you than for other kids your age?
1. Being disciplined
2. Being patient
3. What are two of your favorite things to do?
1. Editing
2. Listening to music
4. What are two of your least favorite things to do?
1. Journalism
2. Research
5. List three of your recent successes (big or small) and why were you successful
for each.
1. Being more active in academics and extra-curricular activities. It feels
refreshing to be doing these things, and the contentment that you feel when
achieving the things that need to be done feels successful.
2. Knowing myself even more. Recently, I’ve been getting to know myself and
I’ve been really kind to myself, so for my well-being, it feels like a win to have
a major step in knowing myself even better.
3. Strengthening my relationship with other people. These days, I feel like I
have been reconnecting and strengthening my relationship with my family and
friends. We are closer than ever, and it feels nice to know that we have
reached this stage of our relationship.
6. List two things you did recently that you could have done better and, if given a
chance, how would you do these things differently?
1. That one event where I was the technical head. If given a chance, I would
100% do things differently. I would quadruple-check everything that needs to
be checked and practice day and night to execute my skills perfectly, if not
perfectly, at least execute my skills better for the event so that I would not
disappoint the people involved and give them the satisfaction that they need.
2. My academics before. I would love to give my best in doing my assessment
better. Giving my effort into being more attentive and not slacking off.
7. Who do you turn to for help with things that are hard for you?
- First, God. I will pray and talk to him about my hardships and request
guidance in my journey, and I will thank him and will ask for forgiveness.
Second, I will self-reflect/self-meditate, and I will connect with myself and stay
composed by gathering my thoughts and keeping calm. And lastly, I would
talk to my family or friends, telling them what I am currently feeling and how
my life is going.
8. List 3 things that you think you can't do and explain why for each.
1. Being consistent. I get easily distracted and I slack off as time passes by.
2. Showing my true emotions. It’s hard for me to show my true emotions to
other people.
3. Being a master at one thing. Maybe because I want to try all the things and
I feel like I’m the ‘Jack of All Trades, Master of None.”
9. Identify what are you afraid of for each of your answers in #8.
1. I might be bored throughout the process, and I fear commitment.
2. They might judge me for being soft and being little at that moment.
3. Just like the first one, maybe being a master at one thing only would bore me
and I might become uninterested along the way.
10. Explain why you should try to do the things you identified in #8.
1. I should try becoming consistent because this might help me achieve goals,
build habits, and become better at what I do. It can also help me bring
stability, responsibility, and trust in relationships, making life less stressful and
more fulfilling.
2. I should try showing my true emotions because by being myself and sharing
my feelings with others can help me build real connections and let go of
stress. It's like having an open conversation where you express your thoughts
and feelings, making it easier for others to understand me and support me.
3. Becoming a master at one thing could make me good at something and can
really help me out in the future, like into becoming an expert.
