0 Foreword
The warnings and instructions in this documentation must be followed for trouble-free operation of this machine
and to ensure that the warranty will be honoured\valid. Strict adherence to the safety instructions is necessary to
avoid accidents.
The documentation in its entirety must be available to all persons authorised to use or carry out maintenance on
this machine.
1 Note on industrial safety
These instructions contain information on industrial safety precautions that must be observed to avoid serious
injury and life-threatening accidents.
Besides the warnings in these instructions for use, the general regulations on safety and accident prevention
must be observed.
2 Definitions
The user is the person on whose premises the machine is installed and operated.
The operator/staff are those responsible for transport, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance
of cleaning and trouble shooting of the machine.
3 General industrial safety rules
3.1 Operating safety
This machine was built in accordance with the state of the art and is operationally safe. However, it may be
dangerous if operated incorrectly by untrained staff or in a manner not in compliance with the instructions for
use.
The machine must be installed and operated in accordance with the applicable national regulations of the
relevant country. The user is responsible for compliance with these regulations.
Original parts and accessories have been designed specifically for this machine. Replacements for original parts
and accessories not supplied by the manufacturer of the machine have not been tested and approved by the
manufacturer. Installation and/or use of such products may therefore alter the design characteristics of the
machine and represent a threat to safety. In no case shall the manufacturer be liable for damage caused by the
use of non-original parts and accessories or by the improper installation or exchange of original parts and
accessories.
3.2 Proper use of the machine
The proper use of the machine is explained in the instructions for use for each individual model. Any other use
of the machine is considered improper. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage resulting from
improper use; this risk is borne by the user. The proper use of the machine includes compliance with the
conditions specified by the manufacturer for the installation, operation, transport and maintenance of the
machine. The machine should not be operated in any manner that represents a threat to safety.

3.3 Staff training
The machine may only be operated, maintained and repaired by authorised, qualified and trained staff. In
particular, the operator must be alerted to possible hazards. Work on electrical and (where installed) pneumatic
and hydraulic equipment may only be carried out by special skilled technicians.
Unless otherwise indicated, the machine must always be switched off at the main switch when any adjustments,
maintenance and repair work are carried out. In addition, when work is being done on hydraulic or pneumatic
units, all parts of the machine under pressure must be depressurised.
3.4 Safety requirements of users and operators
The user
• or the persons authorised by the user are responsible for ensuring that the machine is only operated
when in perfect condition.
• is responsible for introducing whatever instructions and checks are necessary to keep the workplace at
the machine clean and uncluttered.
• must, where necessary, require staff to wear protective clothing.
• is responsible for installing the machine in accordance with the installation plan and the installation
instructions.
The operator
• must help ensure that only authorised staff work on the machine.
• must ensure on every start of the machine that no one is in the danger zone.
• is responsible for informing the user immediately of any changes that take place on the machine
(including performance) that could affect either safety or operation of the machine. To this end, the
machine must be checked for externally visible defects and damage at least once a shift.
Unauthorised changes to or conversion of the machine by the user or operator are not permitted and exempt
the manufacturer of liability for personal injury and damage to property resulting from such alteration. Under no
circumstances may the user or operator dismantle or deactivate any safety devices. If safety devices must be
dismantled or deactivated during set-up, maintenance or repair of the machine, these safety devices must be
reinstalled or reactivated immediately on completion of the work.
The instructions for use must be observed when using the operating materials foreseen (e.g. cleaning agents
and lubricants). Where a manufacturer’s DIN safety data sheet (DIN 52 900) has been specified for an operating
material, the instructions given therein must be strictly observed (e.g. chemistry, physical and safety data,
transport, regulations, safety precautions, storage and handling, measures in case of accident and fire,
toxicological and ecological data). This applies especially to the proper disposal of operating materials. The
safety data sheet contains details of the necessary method of disposal and the disposal code. The safety data
sheet can be obtained from the manufacturer of the operating material.
4 Avoidance of potential differences / grounding
In case of the risk of electrostatic charging caused by the product or other parts under vibration, all non-
metallically connected machine parts must be grounded to prevent electrostatic charging and sparks.
The individual components must be provided with ground straps and/or ground terminals for this purpose. If the
ground cables are not already assembled on delivery, they must be assembled on site by specially trained
personnel.
Since the possibility of preassembled ground cables working loose or becoming detached as a result of
vibrations during transport cannot be completely excluded, these cables should be inspected and tightened after
installing the machine. A test report must be prepared.

The flexible connections on the feed and discharge nozzles must be made with electrically conductive
expansion joints and/or packings. If the expansion joints and/or packings cannot be made of electrically
conductive, flexible material for product-specific reasons (e.g. FDA approval), these joints and/or packings must
be bridged by means of grounding wires.
Regardless of the electrically conductive supporting springs, the apparatus must be connected to the supporting
structure by a ground cable. The supporting structure must be grounded by the customer. Suitable ground
connections must be provided by the customer at the place of installation for connecting the ground cables.
The ground connections must be included in the maintenance plan to be prepared by the customer and
inspected at appropriate intervals.
