B. JEROME POLIN SIJABAT
Jerome Polin, whose real name is Jerome Polin Sijabat, was born in Surabaya on May 2,
1998. Jerome Polin is 22 years old and embraces Christianity. Although proficient in
Japanese, he is Indonesian. Jerome Polin was born to a pair of parents named
Marojahan Sijabat and Chrissie. In the family, Jerome Polin has 2 siblings, namely an
older brother named Jehian Panangian Sijabat and a younger brother named Jesferrel
Porman Sijabat.
Jerome has had a passion for playing music since childhood. His hobby is playing musical
instruments such as guitar, piano and [Link] Polin did not only reap
achievements during college. Previously, when he was still at SMA 5 Surabaya, he had
bought up a lot of academic and non-academic achievements. Jerome's academic
achievements include being the winner in the 14th Japanese Speech Content event,
Suginami Association. He has also won the 2016 ITS National Industrial Engineering
Olympiad, Ranked 1st in the 2015 Surabaya City Level Student Achievement
Competition, 3rd Place in the 2014 Mathematics Olympiad, The Winner 14th Japanese
Speech Contest, and 1st Place in the National Vector Mathematics Olympiad, State
University of Malang 2015, Entered in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in April 2021. Entered in
the Fortune Indonesia 40 Under 40 in February 2023. IKAPI Awards 2020 for the
category "Rookie of The Years" - Mantappu Jiwa (Indonesia International Book Fair

Jerome Polin and his older brother, Jehian Panangian, are included in the Forbes 30
Under 30 Asia. They are included in this famous award list for their achievements in
establishing the Q&A Group. Jerome, who is active in conveying education, is also
considered to have a good impact on young Indonesians in the academic field.
Jerome tries to realize his dream of going abroad, one of which is by diligently studying
and achieving. Like other young people, Jerome has aspirations for the future. Who
would have thought if he wanted to become the Minister of Education one day. Through
his ideals, he hopes to be able to provide the best for his beloved country to improve
the quality of education in Indonesia, so that he can compete well with other countries.
Before studying at Waseda University in Japan, Jerome Polin had applied for a scholarship test at
NTU Singapore. Unfortunately, the test results stated that Jerome could only get 50% of the
scholarship and 50% had to be borne alone. Because of that, Jerome finally had to give up his
intention and opportunity to study in Singapore. However, the failure to get a full scholarship in
Singapore did not necessarily make Jerome give up. This actually sparked his enthusiasm to get a
scholarship at another university. At that time Jerome tried to enroll at Waseda University
majoring in Applied Mathematics by applying for a full scholarship from Mitsui Bussan. And sure
enough, thanks to his enthusiasm and persistence, he was successfully accepted to study in
Japan in 2016 until now. Jerome Polin is one of two people selected to get a full scholarship to
study at Waseda University, Japan majoring in Applied Mathematics.
Jerome later became known thanks to his videos on YouTube which were very educational and
uploaded on the “Nihongo Mantappu” account. Nihongo Mantappu comes from 2 words,
namely Nihongo which means Japanese and Mantappu which means steady, and has 10 million
subscribers. Even though he is still a student, Jerome Polin's income is so large that he has
earned millions of rupiah through his YouTube channel.
In the midst of his busy life as a student, who would have thought that Jerome Polin was also
active in writing and had succeeded in publishing a best seller book. He successfully published a
book titled Nihongo Mantappu in 2019 which tells the story of the struggle for education and
the beginning of Jerome's career. Not only that, Jerome also shared tips and tricks for solving
math problems along with explanations in pdf form in Nihongo Mantappu's book. This is in line
with the Applied Mathematics education he took in Japan.
Jerome and his older brother also ventured into the culinary business, focusing on drinks.
Jerome opened an outlet called Menantea. Starting from his hobby of combining tea with fruit
in a video he made in Japan, the Menantea outlet opened for the first time in Tomang, West
Jakarta on April 10 2021. In fact, dozens of branches that will be spread across various regions in
Indonesia are also being prepared.
