All Players are to register themselves onto Down Under Pairings for this event. Army
rosters are to be submitted into Down Under Pairings before the due date. The TO is
able to see time of submission and so will be able to penalise late submissions.
Army rosters must be submitted no later than 11:59 17th November 2021, or you will be penalised. This gives me
time to review your roster and make any necessary corrections. I will message you back with the faults I find so be
quick to get onto fixing them. Don’t forget to put your name on all copies of your roster!
LATE ARMY LISTS WILL RECEIVE A PENALTY. I don’t like having to chase people.
Models from your Army
All models must confirm to the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format. If a model is listed on the roster as
having a Lascannon, then they must have a Lascannon and so on. If you need clarification, please contact the
organiser via [Link]@[Link] Models must be fully assembled and on appropriate base sizes, clearly
identifiable with regards to squad leaders, etc. Non-conforming models will be removed from play!
Army List Limitations
Army lists MUST be battle forged
Any rules and FAQs released before November 14th 2021 will be in effect
Armies must not exceed 2000 points, this event will allow players to build on their starting forces for
future tournaments. This is a STRIKE FORCE style event
Skulls Tournaments are Matched Play events and follows all the rules for that play format
The GT2021 book will be used for this tournament and the latest points as released by GW will be in place
You may select up to 3 detachments for your army
WARLORD must be clearly written on the list to avoid any confusion
If multiple models could be warlord on the list (i.e. 2 Hive Tyrants, 2 Farseers. Etc) the model that is the true
warlord must be identifiable on the list and table (saying Hive tyrant with green rimmed base is good enough)
For list building rules refer to those laid out for matched play in the GT2021 handbook
Forgeworld models and rules MAY be used following their most current rules
Forgeworld models conforming to the correct base size and general shape may be used to represent entries
from the relevant army list
Conversions are allowed however the conversion should clearly represent the model they are converted to be
Weapons, armour options and upgrades chosen from the army list must be shown on the majority of the
models in a unit. You may use converted miniatures to represent troop types that are not yet available.
Remember WYSIWYG is required.
It is preferred that armies be painted to a three-colour minimum, but this is not a requirement, ALL MODELS
MUST BE ASSEMBLED AND UNDERCOATED, Note: 10 points will be awarded to battle ready armies
All models/equipment must be of an appropriate type for the troops/wargear they represent. Non-GW models
are allowed so long as they adequately represent the unit choice/s. PLEASE talk to me well before the
tournament if you need clarification on this! PM me if need be. 3D Printed models are allowed.
The TO has the discretion to reject a list if it does not meet his standards
If you have any more concerns PM me (Michael Hortin) on facebook or email me [Link]@[Link] and I
will answer questions. Please do this before list submission day that it won’t alter the way your list runs and there
are no surprises. I will release a T.O. FAQ if there are multiple of the same questions if given enough time to do so.
Prizes and Award Categories!
There will be 4 awards given out at the end of the Tournament. Details for each category are given below:
Skulls November 21 Best General: The player with the highest Generalship Score!
Skulls November 21 Best Army: Best Army judged by Peers (only available to those that paint the army themselves)
Skulls November 21 Best Sport: People’s favourite opponent
Scoring.
Down Under Pairings will be used to score this event. HOWEVER, the event will not be finalised after the
conclusion and so will not count towards peoples rankings on DUP. This is a casual tournament and is
encouraged that people use off META armies. Hence the tournament is not ranked.
You will receive 10 points per game for battle ready armies as per the GT2020 rules
Best General
This will be based on winning games with count back on victory points scored per game.
You will receive 1 round point for a win, 0 points for a draw and 0 points for a loss, which will be used to
determine the overall winner
Victory points will be used as a count back system should there be 2 players with equal wins.
Sportsmanship
This will be determined at the end of all games.
Players are to conduct themselves in a friendly way.
People have the right to read the rules of your army book if they ask for it, be fair in the fact that this is a
beginners tournament and all should be aware of the fact that there are newer tournament players on the
scene.
Best Army
The Best Army Trophy will be awarded by popular vote by the players themselves. During lunch, players should
set up their armies for peers to view
Pre-game and Post-game Sequence
During the 15 minute warm-up period, discuss with your opponent about the terrain, i.e. what is Obscuring,
what is Light Cover, etc.
You are obliged to show your army list to your opponent, as well as clearly note which unit has what and clarify
any rules/options queries that (s)he may have.
If you are not present at the start time for any of the games (i.e. at the end of the pre-game setup time) then you
automatically lose that battle and a ringer army will take your place.
After each game, players must judge the game they have just played and rate it on the Post-Game Cards supplied
at each table. Be sure to fill in the entire card and hand both in to the tournament organisers at the main table
as soon as possible.
Disagreements during a game…
Occasionally opponents will disagree over a rule and in these cases it is expected that usually the players will be
able to come to an agreement. The usual method in circumstances where a rule is disagreed over is to roll a dice for
it. However, if you and your opponent are still at loggerheads, then take your rules query to the tournament
organisers at the main table. Their decision, even if you don’t agree with it, is final. Remember that Skulls is about
having fun!
How Do I Contact the Organisers?
The best way is to contact Michael by email on [Link]@[Link] or private message me on Facebook.
MISSIONS
The Tournament missions will be from the 9th edition GT2020 handbook you will need objective markers for
this. Your are required to score your own games. Whichever player scores the most VP’s will be the game
winner.
Game 1: Sweep and Clear
Game 2: Vital Intelligence
Game 3: The Scouring
Terrain Placement
This tournament will be trialling a new format of terrain rules to attempt to make terrain more
versatile and interesting for the players
We will have the attendees place their own terrain every mission instead of the TO placing the terrain
This also allows for the potential of fortifications to be used and actually be effective.
Want to use the Hammerfall Bunker you have, well create your own firing lanes, and give it it’s own
place to sit where you want it
The rules are as follows:
Players cannot place terrain in their opponents deployment zone but are able to place it anywhere else
on the battlefield
The players will roll off for Attacker and Defender
Starting with the Attacker, players alternate picking terrain from a ‘pool’ provided by the event
organiser.
Then, the Defender chooses his side of the table and deploys the first terrain piece. The players then
alternate deploying terrain until all terrain has been placed on the table to create the battlefield.
This step will occur before declaring transports and reserves
The Following rules will apply to placing terrain:
- Terrain cannot be place within 1” of an Objective marker
- Terrain cannot be placed within 4” of another Terrain piece
- Terrain cannot be placed within 5” of the center of the table
If there are any questions, please feel free to ask the TO organiser
