1 General
This guide explains how to install and maintain the single board computer
SBC454 in an existing PSS5000.
The PSS5000 must be prepared for SBC454 installation. This involves
removal of the single output transformer. The procedure is similar for each
PSS5000 variant, i.e. with a CPB505, CPB509 or CPB539 mounted in a
standard cabinet.
The installation procedure for SBC454 in a PSS5000 system with central
pprocessor board CPB505, CPB509 or CPB539 is almost like. Installation in a
system with CPB509 is used as general example in this installation guide.
1.1 Installation differences
SBC454 contains parts for installation in all PSS5000 900124 types. The
900124- specific variant number is found on the PSS5000 system type plate
label.
Not all the parts may be required for the individual installations. Pay special
attention to the DCB535 fuse board. See Table 1 for requirements.
System variant / Central processor DCB535
Production Number (PN) board fuse board
900124-111 CPB509-001 Must be installed
900124-112 CPB505-001 Must be installed
900124-115 CPB505-002 Must be installed
900124-116 CPB539-001 Do not install
900124-117 CPB539-002 Do not install
900124-126 CPB539-001 Do not install

4.2 Installation procedure
This procedure describes how to dismount the existing transformer and mount
both the transformer and SBC provided with kit SBC454.
Note: See Figure 3 to identify the references.
1) Unplug the power.
2) Dismount the black transformer T1:
a. Remove the plastic dust cover and unscrew M1.
b. Cut the 4 cable ties S1, S2, S3 and S4 that hold the transformers’
cables in place.
c. Unplug both the black wires at J1
d. Unplug the green/yellow wires at J1, J2, J3 and J4
e. Unplug connector J5.
f. Remove the transformer from the cabinet.
3) Mount the red transformer using the M5x40mm bolt from the kit and reuse
the washer from the old transformer. The cables must face downwards.
Note: Do not tighten the securing bolt at this point.
4) Locate M4 (as shown in Figure 4) and cut away the plastic to remove the
wire. Make sure to cut away enough plastic so that the center part of the
wire mount can rotate without damaging the CPB board.
Figure 4. Wire mount removal procedure.
5) Mount the DCB535 and connect the cables:
a. Place ferule M5 on the stud and screw on spacer M6.
b. Connect DCB535 M7 to the central processor board and secure it
with screw M8.
c. Using the short cable from the transformer, connect the short
green/yellow wire at J4.
d. Insert connector J6 in the DCB535.
e. Wind the wires from the transformer together and secure them with
cable tie S7 as shown in Figure 5.

Important! Make sure that the wires are secured so they don't get squeezed
in the cabinet door, when closed.
Figure 5. DCB535 installation.
6) Reconnect the wiring loom (see Figure 3 for references):
a. Connect the 3 wires (2x black + 1x green/yellow) by pushing them
on to the mains filter J1, the green and yellow wire must be installed
in the center fast-on tab.
b. Connect both green and yellow wires at J2, and J3.
c. Secure the cables with cable ties to wire mounts S1 and S2.
d. Leave the long cable for now.
e. Tighten the bolt M1 with your fingers and then tighten it 1½
rotations with the spanner.
Note: Do not over tighten M1 and remember to put the black plastic
cover back on the nut.
7) Mount the SBC454:
a. Take the SBC454 and place it on studs M3 and M4 in the PSS5000
lid.
Make sure that the Ethernet cable is not in the way and that the
connectors on the SBC454 faces towards the CPB board.
b. Secure the computer with the 2 x spring washers and the 2 x M5
nuts.
8) Attach the power cable to the SBC454:
a. Connect the long cable from the transformer to the power connector
on the single board computer.
b. Route the cable along the bottom of the PSS 5000 cabinet and up
together with the Ethernet cable.
c. Secure the cable with cable ties at positions S5 and S6.
Install the cable with room for movement. There must be enough
space between the cable and the cabinet for a finger to pass between.

5 Cable shields
External cables entering the PSS5000 must have their shields connected to the
box.
1. Strip 30mm of the isolation from all the external cables when they enter
the PSS5000, make sure not to damage the shielding. See Figure 7.

6 Installing operating system
The SBC454 is based on the iBASE IB898 single board computer. IB898 is
distributed with a CD-ROM and a printed manual. The CD-ROM contains
necessary drivers for the SBC and documentation on how to install the drivers
and set up bios.
Latest information and drivers on the iBASE IB898 can be found at:
www.iBASE.com.tw/
The SBC454 is delivered as “Hardware only”. The kit comes without any
software and the onboard mSATA is empty.
SBC454 bios is set up to boot from several medias including USB. An operating
system can be installed by booting off a USB thumb drive and transfer the OS
to the mSATA drive.
