Safety Leadership for ESG Excellance
History of National Safety Day
National Safety Day has been celebrated since 1966. Every year on March 1, this day
commemorates the establishment of the National Safety Council. On March 4, 1966, the
Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India established the National Safety
Council as a non-profit, self-financing body.
National Safety Day was established for the first time in 1972.
Every year, National Safety Week is celebrated from 4th March to 10th March in India and it
serves as a vital platform to raise awareness about industrial safety and promote a culture of
well-being in workplaces. This year, with the theme “Focus on Safety Leadership for ESG
Excellence,” the emphasis shifts from mere awareness to proactive leadership as the key
driver for sustainable and responsible development.
Being safe is the first and the foremost thing for all of us. Wishing a very Happy 53rd National Safety Week to all.
