Basic 3d MODELING Maya
1) How do you make a surface planar in Maya?
The Planar action creates a flat, trimmed NURBS surface inside a curve.
Select a closed, planar curve, or multiple curves that form a closed, planar region. You can select multiple
curves that form an enclose region by overlapping. They do not need to be connected end-to-end.
Choose Surfaces > Planar.
2) What is reverse direction in surface?
In the Modeling menu set, select Surfaces > Reverse Direction > to open these options. These settings determine
what happens when you select Surfaces > Reverse Direction. Surface Direction. Select U to reverse the CVs along
the U parametric direction.
3) What is a reference in Maya?
The reference node maintains the link between parent scene and child scene, so that when the parent
scene is saved and reopened, the references are retained in the parent scene. When a referenced object
is modified in the parent scene, the reference node stores these edits.
4 )What is extrude in Maya?
You can add polygons to an existing mesh by extruding polygon faces, edges, or vertices. For example,
when you extrude a face on a polygon mesh the existing face telescopes inwards or outwards as it
creates new connecting faces on the sides of the extrusion.
5) What is Bevel in Maya?
Bevels expand each selected edge into a new face, rounding the edges of a polygon mesh. See Bevel
command. To bevel edges or faces. Select a mesh object or select the edges or faces you want to bevel.
Note: If you select a mesh object, Maya bevels every edge in the mesh.
6) What is combine in maya?
The Combine feature assembles the meshes as polygon shells in the new polygon mesh
node that gets created. The topology of the combined meshes is not modified in any
other way. In general, you must combine separate polygon meshes before you can
perform many types of polygon editing operations.
7) What is boolean in Maya?
Booleans (Mesh > Booleans) let you model with polygonal objects. A set of boolean
operations let you combine input objects to make shapes that would otherwise be
difficult to model using other techniques.
8) How do you cut faces in Maya?
1. Select the mesh you want to slice.
2. Open the Multi-Cut Tool.
3. (Optional) In the Modeling Toolkit window, select Delete Faces or Extract Faces in the
Slice Tool options.
4. Click one of the Slice Along Plane buttons. ...
5. Use the manipulator to adjust the slice.
