This document discusses different types of gauges used in engineering including plug gauges, which measure the shape and size of holes using fixed diameters, ring gauges for measuring external diameters of round parts, and snap gauges also known as gap gauges for measuring both cylindrical and non-cylindrical parts against upper and lower limits. It provides the micro project title, types of gauges, and names of group members who were guided by Mr. H.R.Mestery.

ENGINEERING METROLOGY (22342) 2023-24

MICRO PROJECT TITLE

TYPES OF GAUGES
PLAN PLUG GAUGE:
 A plug gauge is a fixed gauge that is
used for measuring the shape and size
of a hole.
 A plug gauge comes with different
diameters. They are helpful to
measure the inside diameters of drilled
holes or holes that are machined into a
manufactured part, component, or
assembly.

PLAN RING GAUGES:

 Cylindrical Plain Ring Gauges
are used to check external diameters
of straight round parts and to set other
gauges, such as bore gauges, internal
micrometers and air gauges.
 Gauges are precision lapped to
achieve the highest levels of accuracy
and finish, and are available in
imperial or metric sizes.

SNAP GAUGE:
 Snap gauges are also known as gap
gauges. It is a form of Go/no-go
gauge used for both cylindrical and
non-cylindrical parts.
 Go snap gauge is used with a higher
limit of the shaft, and no-go gauge is
used with a lower limit of the shaft.
