4. Outcomes of the module
The student will be able to:
Develop understanding of the fitness & health industry
Application of physical exercise
Obtain knowledge of assessing and evaluating fitness of individuals
Acquire knowledge of fitness assessment methods, suitable for a variety of
exercise areas and target groups as found in the industry
Learn exercise philosophies and use fitness training modes in the creation of
exercise program designs
Apply anatomical and biomechanical principles in movement as found in various
exercise training modes

Online material available on Sun Learn (powerpoint presentations with voice overs,
video links and pictures)
6. Learning opportunities (lectures, practical, self-study)
Lectures and self-study with the aid of powerpoint presentations with voice overs,
video links and pictures. All classes will be asynchronous, meaning it will be self-
paced. Every week students should download the material at their convenience and
then work through it. The practicals will all be face-to-face.

7. Timetable (contact sessions and venues)
There will be face-to-face contact sessions for theory AND practicals. All the
theoretical material for the course will be uploaded to sunlearn for the students to
work from and learn.

8. Assessment
Mark allocation:
The theory test constitutes 40% of final total (This will take place on sunlearn).
The lesson plan and coaching practical mark constitutes 60% of your final total
You must receive 40% overall to pass Fitness module.
Please note for the theory test:
1. The theory test will be in person face-to-face. Date and venue TBC.
2. If you are caught cheating or plagiarising, a disciplinary hearing will be
arranged by the Sports Science Department to deal with the matter, and
if escalated it will go to the faculty. DO NOT CHEAT, IT IS NOT
WORTH IT!
Please note for the lesson plan which is part of your practical evaluation:
1. Download the lesson plan template on sunlearn (Training program)
2. Create a fitness training program for a client based on the biomotor ability you
will be allocated. The program should be 60 min long which is inclusive of a
warm up, the session, and cool down.
3. Identify the brief information of your client as per the template and create your
program to address those aspects.
4. Apply all the knowledge you have received in this module to create the lesson
plan.
5. Once completed bring along to your practical assessment.
6. Be creative.
7. Do your own work.
8. Feedback will be provided to you by your evaluator.
9. AGAIN, if you are caught cheating or plagiarising, a disciplinary hearing
will be arranged by the Sports Science Department to deal with the
matter, and if escalated it will go to the faculty. DO NOT CHEAT, IT IS

Please note for the practical evaluation:
Students will be practically evaluated on a coaching biomotor ability which will be
allocated in person face-to-face. The particulars around this assessment will be shared
to class. All schedules and equipment lists and venues will be communicated as well.
Students will only qualify for a sick test with a valid medical certificate or leave of
absence letter in category A.
Self-study of notes and engagement with the online material will be to your
advantage.
