1 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
Electric shock hazard
Presence of dangerous voltages inside the equipment.
► Turn off the equipment before working inside it.
► Wait for at least five minutes before removing the covers.
► Do not perform any reckless operation.
► Work with the greatest caution possible.

Warning: Observe precautions for handling.

Electrostatic sensitive devices.
ESD can damage disk drives, boards, memory modules and other parts. We recommend you to do
all procedures in this guide only on an ESD workstation. If it is not available, provide a ESD
protection by wearing an antistatic wrist strap attached to any unpainted metal surface when
handling parts. If you don't have one, discharge static electricity from yourself and your clothing by
touching a nearby metal surface before handling any internal components.

5 BOARDS DIAGNOSTICS
Ionizing radiations.
The operations described below require the emission of ionizing radiations.
► Take the proper measures in order to avoid exposing any part of the body to direct or indirect
radiations.

Electrical shock danger

Even with the mains plug disconnected, a dangerous voltage can be present inside the equipment.
► Wait at least five minutes before removing the covers.

Potential risks
Adjustments of the potentiometers not necessary or wrong
► Perform the adjustments only in case of need.
► Perform the adjustments by following the instructions

Observe precautions for handling.

Electrostatic sensitive devices.

Led legend:
Colour Meaning Status
Green LED = G It indicates the presence of a power supply. Normally ON
A green LED OFF indicates an anomalous fault
condition.
Yellow LED = Y It indicates the activity of a function. ON= function active, OFF=
function not active

5.3.3 Relay

Relay Function
K1 It is deenergized by the intervention of the hardware safety circuit (V2 OK, CPU RUNNING,
MAX XR TIME). A contact (12V1) takes away the power supply to the Handswitch and to the
controls of the Starter, the other one (+15V3) takes away the power supply to the Charger controls.
K2 It is in parallel to K1 and it takes away the power supply to the Inverter and to the Filament
(15V2).
K3 It is energized by the preparation request (HS PRE). Its contact is connected in series to the
STARTER RUN signal.
K4 It is energized by the exposure request (HS RAD) and it is delayed to the fall of about 100ms. Its
contact is connected in series to the signals of XR ENABLE, XR ORDER, mA STABILIZATION.

and brake time of the anode. It is controlled so that the contacts close and open when the Triac B4-
TH1 and TH2 are in “off” status (zeropower switch).
K4 Energized by the LAMP REQUEST keys of the Keyboard or Infra-Red Handswitch. Its contact
generates the LAMP ORDER signal.

connected to the ac/dc S1 power supply and through the B3 → B4
relay B3-K1 to the Power Unit. The presence of the
mains voltage is indicated by the green led B3-Ld1.
+V1 The power supply +V1 (13Vdc) is generated by the S1 → B3 →
power supply S1 and it is always present also with the Collimator

is ON. This voltage refers to GND.
+12V1 The voltage +V1 supplies the transistor B3-Q1-E; by S1 → B3
switching ON the equipment the transistor Q1-C tranfers
the voltage +12V1= (+V1- Vcesat) to the starter control

Safety circuits and if there are not fault situations,
through the relay B2-K2 are supplied the control circuits
of the Filament, Inverter and some in/out circuits on
MPB.

V2 OK High active signal. In case there is an unbalance between B2
pos. and neg. of the V2 the signal is missing, the red led
B2-Ld2 switches ON and the alarm "V2 FAULT”
appears on the display. For safety reasons the relays B2-
K1/K2 are deenergized and they take away the voltage
V1 to the x-ray handswitch, the power supply ±V2 to the
Inverter and the Filament and the V3 to the charger
control signals. Switch the equipment OFF to reset the
safety condition.
CPU RUNNING High active signal. If the program stops the signal is B2
missing and the red led B2-Ld4 switches ON. For safety
reasons the relays B2-K1/K2 are deenergized and they
remove the voltage V1 to the x-ray handswitch, the
e Filament
and the V3 to the charger control signals. Switch the
equipment OFF to reset the safety condition.
MAX XR TIME Low active signal. It is the hardware safety that stops the B2
equipment operation in case the exposure time is >
5,1sec (Red Led B2-Ld3 → ON). For safety reasons the
relays B2-K1/K2 are deenergized and they take away the
voltage V1 to the x-ray handswitch, the power supply
±V2 to the Inverter and to the Filament and the V3 to the
charger control signals. Switch the equipment OFF to
reset the safety condition.

is connected to the GND. WARNING! If the capacitors B5
have not been discharged this voltage is present also with
the equipment OFF and with the plug not inserted. The
natural discharge occurs in about 3 hours; the capacitors
charge status is indicated by the green leds B4-Ld3
(branch +) and B4-Ld4 (branch -) that remain ON till a

-VC FAULT stopped when the voltage of one of the battery branch is
higher than 350Vc (The charge control circuit could be
faulty or an unbalancing between the pos. and neg.
branches of the battery). The intervention is indicated by
the red leds B4-Ld1(+) or B4-Ld2 (-) and the “POWER
FAULT” alarm appears on the display. To reset the lock,
switch the equipment OFF and ON again.
SCR ON Safety signal. It is high active if the discharge Thyristor B4
B4-TH2 is in “on” status in this condition the battery
charge is locked. The charge is reenabled automatically
when the TH2 returns in “off” status.

(SERVICE MODE→ CONFIG. menu→ BRAKE OFF
).
STARTER READY High active signal (B3-Ld5 → ON) that is present for the B3 → B2

the alarm “FILAMENT” appears on the Display. In case
the alarm has been generated by a current > di 500mA
the red led B7-Ld1 is ON and it stores the intervention of
the safety of max. current. The intervention of this safety
energizes the relay B7-K1 that sections the filament to
protect it from overcurrent. Switch the equipment OFF to
reset the safety condition.

INACTIVE”.
The message on the display is deleted after about 5
seconds, but if the first case is occurred on the first line
“cGYcm2” appears.
