In Lesson Planning, teachers can employ and combine various teaching strategies and methods to
deliver instruction. In choosing strategies and methods, the teacher must consider learner’s diversity which
will respond to their needs.

1. Direct Instruction
It is systematic, structured, and sequential teaching.
Its basic steps include presenting the materials,
explaining, and reinforcing them. According to
Borich (2011), direct Instruction methods are used to
teach facts, rules, and demonstration, didactic
questions, drill and practice, guides for reading,
listening, viewing, and lectures.

2. Indirect Instruction
It is a teaching strategy in which the learners are
active and not passive participants. It is used for

concept learning, inquiry learning, and problem –
centered learning ( Borich, 2011). Indirect
instruction methods include case studies, cloze
procedures, concept formation, inquiry, problem-
solving and reflective discussion
3. Interactive Instruction
It addresses learner’s need to be active in their
learning and interact with others including teachers
and peers. The interactive method includes
brainstorming, debates, cooperative learning,
interviewing, small-group discussions, and whole-
class discussions.
4. Experiential Instruction
It is teaching students by directly involving them in a
learning experience. This strategy emphasizes the
process and not the product of learning. This method
includes games, experiments, field trips, model
building, field observation, role play, immersion, and
simulation.
5. Independent Study
It is a teaching strategy in which the teacher’s
external control is reduced and students interact
more with the content ( Petrina,2000). The
independent study method aims to develop learner’s
initiative, self-reliance, and self-improvement. It
includes assigned questions, correspondence
lessons, computer -assisted instruction, essays,
homework, learning contracts, reports, and research
projects.
Learning activities that students typically engage in inside the classroom can vary depending on the
grade level, subject matter, and teaching approach. Here are some common learning activities often
conducted in classrooms:

10. Problem-Solving Activities:

11. Interactive Technology:
The use of interactive whiteboards, tablets, or other
technology can engage students through multimedia
presentations, online quizzes, and educational software.
12. Socratic Seminars:
Students engage in structured discussions, often
around a text or a philosophical question, where they take on
an active role in leading the discussion.
13. Peer Review and Critique:
Students review and provide feedback on each
other’s work, such as essays, presentations, or projects, to
improve their understanding and communication skills.
14. Concept Mapping and Mind Mapping :
Students create visual representations of concepts or
ideas to help them organize and understand information.
15. Jigsaw Method:
In this cooperative learning approach, students
