Daily Diary: Day 3at BHARATPUR, RAJASTHAN, Date: May 29, 2024
Time: 4:00PM to 7:00 PM
On the third day, I visited a rural village located in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. I have observed things
About the agricultural system of the village.
AGRICULTURAL SYSTEM OF VILLAGE:
The agricultural system in the rural villages of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, faces several
challenges that impact its efficiency and sustainability.
The district is primarily agricultural, with around 85% of its population engaged in farming
activities.
The major crops include mustard, wheat, barley, gram, and lentil, with mustard being the
most significant crop, covering about 65% of the cultivated area during the rabi season.
CHALLENGES:
The climate in Bharatpur is characterized by a dry, arid environment with hot summers,
cold winters, and a short monsoon season, receiving an average annual rainfall of
approximately 645.2 mm .
This climatic condition contributes to frequent droughts and water scarcity, which
significantly affects agricultural productivity.
The availability of irrigation is limited, and many farmers rely on rain-fed agriculture,
making crop yields highly variable and often insufficient.
SOLUTION BY GOVERNMENT:
Efforts to improve the agricultural system include initiatives by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK) in Bharatpur.
which focuses on providing vocational training to farmers, promoting high-yielding
varieties of crops, and enhancing productivity through scientific livestock management
and integrated nutrient management.
These programs aim to bridge the gap between agricultural research and practical
application, ensuring that farmers adopt better practices to improve their yields and
income.
In summary, despite these efforts, the conditions remain challenging due to the inherent
climatic and infrastructural limitations. Addressing these issues requires sustained investment
in irrigation infrastructure, adoption of modern farming practices, and continued support and
training for farmers to improve their resilience against environmental and economic stresses.
I try to give correct information about to grow more and good crop. This approach ensures that
the farmer understands the essential aspects of agriculture in a simple and practical manner.
