The governing body for dairy farmers' cooperatives in Karnataka is called the Karnataka
Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (KMF). Out of all the dairy cooperatives in the
nation, it is the second largest. Both in terms of sales and procurement, it is the best in South
India. Marketing of Milk and Milk Products is one of the Federation's primary duties. The name
"Nandini" is synonymous with pure and fresh milk and milk-related products.
In Karnataka, there are 13 Milk Unions operated by KMF that buy milk from Primary Dairy
Cooperative Societies (DCS) and distribute it to customers in various towns, cities, and rural
markets.
KMF is in charge of developing the market for Milk and Milk products as well as coordinating
activities among the Unions. The relevant Milk Unions are in charge of organizing the marketing
of Milk in their respective jurisdictions. The Federation keeps track of liquid milk surpluses and

Deficits among its member Milk Unions. Even though KMF manages the marketing of all milk
products both inside and outside the state, they are all sold under the same brand name,
NANDINI.
