If equipped with the optional Joystick Control, the Kickdown switch (4) is located in the “trigger”
position on the joystick. See Illustration 5.

Solenoids

Illustration 6 g00888652
The solenoids (5) are installed on the modulating valves (6). The solenoids receive a signal from
the Power Train ECM in order to energize the solenoid. When the solenoid energizes, the spool
of the modulating valve moves in order to direct pressure oil to the clutch. The distance of spool
movement is proportional to the strength of the signal that is sent to the solenoid by the Power
Train ECM.

Pressure Sensor (Left Brake Pedal)

Illustration 7 g03563398
(7) Pressure Sensor (Left Brake Pedal)
The pressure sensor for the left brake pedal (7) sends an input to the ECM. The sensor will
continuously update the Power Train ECM on the pressure of the left pedal. The ECM records
the change of pressure. Then, the ECM activates the appropriate solenoid valve.

The pressure sensor for the left brake pedal is a PWM sensor. The sensor continuously
generates a PWM signal. The duty cycle varies in proportion to the pressure on the pedal. The
ECM receives the PWM signal from the pressure sensor. The ECM measures the duty cycle in
order to determine the pressure on the pedal. The frequency of the sensor signal is constant at
5000 Hz. The machine electrical system provides +battery voltage to the pedal pressure sensor
for operating power.

Pressure Sensor (Parking Brake)

(8) Pressure Sensor (Parking Brake)
A parking brake pressure sensor (8) lights an indicator light on the dash when the parking brake
is engaged. If transmission is in First Speed or Second Speed when the park brake is engaged,
the transmission will go to neutral. An action lamp will also be lighted.
