IRELAND STUDENT VISA CHECKLIST

1. Visa form application: [Link] Provide a signed and dated

summary of the application.
 The form cannot be filled in if the student has not done any Approved English
Tests(Link below)
 All details MUST be correct and resonate with the applicant’s documentation
2. Copy of ALL pages of your current passport, ID, and Birth Certificate (Original
+ Copy)
 Your current passport must be valid for at least 12 months after your proposed date
of arrival in Ireland and available blank visa pages.
 Previous Passport and print all Travel History/Visa Cancellation/ Visa Stamped
pages.
 In addition, as the applicant, please provide ID and Birth Certificate
 In case of any name change or errors, please provide an Affidavit of names
 This includes an error in your parents’ names on your birth certificate
and that of the sponsors in their supporting documents
3. 3 passport-sized photos.
 The size of the Photograph should be 45-50mm in height and 35-38mm in width with
a strict white background
 Include names and visa application reference number on the back
 Three colored passport-sized photographs must not be more than 6 months old
4. Letter of acceptance from a college/ University.
 Evidence that you are enrolled in a privately funded course
 Evidence of any scholarships/grants/discounts
 Stating the amount of fees payable for your course and that the amount has been paid
5. A signed letter of application (cover letter) including your full contact details:
 Outline your reason for wanting to come to Ireland .i.e why the course, why Ireland,
and why the University/Institution.
 Intended date of arrival and exit
 Giving details of any members of your family who are currently in Ireland or any
other EU Member State,
 Undertaking that you will observe the conditions of your visa, that you will not
become a burden on the State, and that you will leave the State on the expiry of your
permission to remain,
 And where the course you now wish to study does not naturally follow on or relate to
your educational/employment history, giving valid reasons, supported by
documentary evidence (where available), for this change.
 Express all visa refusals and mention your travel history
 Clearly outline with organization examples and links as reference ot where you want to
be employed
 Clearly state your tuition fees, how you intend to pay your fees for the frst year and
subsequent years where applicable.
6. Evidence fees have been paid to college. (highly recommend payment to be made
from the sponsor’s bank statement)
 Tuition fee receipt from the university/college
 Swift Copy of the payment made if you made a bank transfer (Original + Copy)
 Bank receipt issued after making payment
 Bank Statement from which the payment was made
7. Evidence accounting for any gaps in your educational history.

Suppose any such gap in education has been filled by periods of employment. In that
case, you must give full details of your employment history with relevant supporting
recommendation letters and an Updated Cv.
8. Academic documents (High school certificates and post-secondary cert and
transcripts) (Original + Copy of each)
9. Evidence of your level of English.

10. Financial Evidence.
 You must show that you have sufficient funds to support your stay in Ireland without
recourse to public funds, or the reliance on casual employment (a 6 months certified
bank statement and certified bank letter)
 The minimum balance must be the sum of the tuition balance of the required 1-year
tuition fee plus the living expenses. (Due to fluctuation in exchange rates you are
advised not to show exact amount, slightly higher.)
 If going for a program more than 1 year you require to show ongoing income to
sustain the subsequent years.
 Additional supporting accounts that can be accepted are fixed deposits/money
markets/ recognized and accredited Saccos, Education Loans, Education Policies.
 Proof of relationship with the sponsor (Birth certificates) and financial consent letter.
 Proof of Identity of the sponsor (Birth Certificate/ID/Passport)
 If the student is going to Dublin, consider having €12,000 and outside Dublin
€10,000
 Evidence that the sponsor has enough funds to maintain themselves and other family
members, i.e., a letter from your sponsor’s employer confirming employment details,
plus 3 months recent payslips. If your sponsor is involved in business, evidence of this
must be provided, such as a Business license, Certificate of Registration, MOA from
the authorities in your country.
 If shareholders are involved, they need to provide consent to use either the bank
statements or the business documents
 KRA Tax Compliance Certificate of both the applicant and sponsor, unless straight
from high school
 For any applicant who has worked before they must show their own personal assets,
Bank Statements or Mpesa Statement, Saving Saccos/Money markets and Title
Deeds
 For any lumpsum deposit amounts of more than 100,000 kshs in any statement
provided, you must show evidence of where the money is coming from with either
letters from the Bank, Invoices, receipts, tender letters etc and relevant supporting
documentation
 Financial Summary Form must be filled in. (Copy with the Visa officer)
11. Ties Back Home
 Parents’ IDs/Birth Certificates or Passports ((Original + Copy)
 Siblings Birth Certificates (Original + Copy)
 If Married provide the Spouses’s ID and Marriage Certificate ((Original + Copy)
 Children’s Birth Certificates ((Original + Copy)
 Title Deeds/Sale Agreements/Valuation of Lands (Original + Copy)
 If the spouse is staying back with the children, a consent is required and proof of
funding (i.e. bank statement, bank letter + employment letter, Business documents)
for the family during the study period of the Spouse in Ireland
 Employment Offer Letter if employed (Original + Copy)
12. Private Medical Insurance
 Private Medical Insurance cover is required. Your college may arrange this on
your behalf. If so, details of this must be included in your Letter of Acceptance
from the college.
 If it is not arranged by the college, you must organise this yourself and provide
evidence with your application. [Link]

13. Flight booking details

  This must be inclined with the dates included in the SOP
 You can reserve with a travel agent and then confirm the booking after visa issuance
14. Previous Visa Refusals
 If you have been refused a visa in the past for any country, you must provide the
details. The original letter issued to you by the authorities of that country must be
provided with your application plus a copy.
 Not disclosing any previous visa refusals may result in your application being refused.
 This MUST also be addressed in the SOP(Personal Statement)
15. Visa fees: Multi entry: €100 paid via Mpesa on visa appointment date
16. Proof of accommodation.
 This must be with the school or off campus and provide evidence of the reservation
 Reservation fee reference/evidence
17. Book a Visa appointment.
 Please note that the applicant must submit his/her application in person at the
Embassy of Ireland, Nairobi. Kindly call 020 5135300 or write to
[Link]@[Link] to book an appointment after submitting the visa
application form and prior to your visit at the offices.
 Print this Appointment email before visit
 Location: Consular Office is open from Monday to Friday as from 8.30 am until
12.30 pm. Location is 4th Floor, Delta Office Suites, Waiyaki Way, Muthangari,
Nairobi
N/B: You can apply for a study visa as soon as you have all the required documents
travel to Ireland. The current processing time is 3 to 8 weeks. Keep in mind your visa
validity.
Depending on varied cases, additional documents may be required.
