Abu Bakr (RA)
He belonged to the less influential clan of Banu Taym. His pre Islamic name was Abdul Kaabah
which was later changed to Abdullah by the Holy Prophet (SAW). He earned the title Ateeq
meaning the charming one, this was because of his personality. The arabs also called him Abu
Bakr meaning the father of foal camels, this was because he was fond of young camels. He was
the friend of the Holy Prophet (SAW) since childhood. As a young man he became a merchant
and extensively travelled in Arabia and neighboring lands through which he gained wealth and
experience. He eventually came to be recognized as the chief of his clan. He led a pious life
before conversion and remained away from the corrupt practices of society. He was the first
Muslim adult to accept Islam. After his return from a business trip to Yemen he was told about
his friends claim. He went to the Holy Prophet (SAW) and on inquiry the Holy Prophet gave an
account of the cave of hira, visit of angel jibreel and his apostleship. On hearing this, he accepted
Islam without the least of hesitation. He bought others to accept Islam. His acceptance gave a
pace to Islam. He shared the message amongst his social circles and influenced them in a manner
that they also converted to Islam. Few of them were, Hazrat Uthman, Zubair, Talha, Saad, Abdur
Rehman bin Auf, Khalid bin Saeed and Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (RA). He remained loyal to the
Holy Prophet (SAW) at all times. Once when Utba bin Muit motivated by the polytheist enemies
tried to strangle the Holy Prophet (SAW) Abu Bakr intervened and rescued the Prophet. For this,
his hair was pulled by the polytheists and he was bat hard losing consciousness and receiving
several injuries. He bought slaves who were Muslims and slaved them. When a free man
accepted Islam, despite the opposition he was given tribal protection from his tribe. This
however was not the case for slaves and they experienced much torture and persecution. He felt
compassion for the slaves and freed 8 of them paying 40,000 dinars for their freedom. Amongst
the 8, four were male and four were female. The men were Abu Fuhayra, Abu Fakih, Ammar
(RA) and Bilal (RA). He expressed belief in the Holy Prophet’s night journey, Isra wal Miraj. On
hearing about the night journey he asked the Holy Prophet (SAW) questions related to the
mosque of Jerusalem. He felt convinced and was the first to believe in the journey. For this, the
Holy Prophet (SAW) awarded him the title “Al Sadiq” meaning, the supporter of the truth. He
accompanied the Holy Prophet (SAW) in the migration to Madinah. At the time of the First
migration, Ibne duganah persuaded him not to migrate to Madinah and offered him immunity. At
the time of Migration to Madinah, ibne duganah abandoned his support for him. So when he
(RZ) was about to migrate to Madinah, he was ordered by the beloved prophet to migrate with
him. His daughter Asma provided the two with food, his son Abdullah bin Abu Bakr informed
them about the movements of enemies and his slave Amir provided them with milk. Once in the
cave of Thaur he protected the Holy Prophet (SAW) from getting stung by a snake. When the
Quraish came closer and Abu Bakr was in fear, the prophet consoled him, this is mentioned in
Surah Tauba “ There were two in the cave, One said to the other, fear not Allah is with us” He
was paired with ansar Abu Kharijah. He fought all the battles during the lifetime of the Prophet

Hazrat Umar (RA)
He was born 40 years before migration to Madinah. He was a well educated person amongst the
learnt in Makkah. He remained a bitter enemy of the Prophet and Islam. In Makkah he had the
reputation of a strong and fierce fighter. Before conversion he gained popularity as a galland
soldier and a sportsman. He learnt martial arts, horse riding and wrestling and frequently
participated in wrestling boots at the famous fair of ukaz. The holy Prophet (SAW) prayed for
the conversion of either Umar bin Khattab or Amr bin Hisham, the prayer was granted by the
conversion of Umar bin al Khattab (RA). He converted to Islam when he heard a passage being
recited. One day when he was on his way to kill the Prophet (SAW) his friend Nauim bin
Abdullah told him about his sisters and brother in laws conversion. He furiously reached their
place to see them. He noticed that they were reading something. He asked them to show it to him
upon which his siter said he must purify himself and them handed him the leaf on which verses 1
to 9 of Surah Taha were written. This touched him so deeply that he went to see the Prophet at
Dar un Nadwa and embraced Islam on the hands of prophet (SAW). GAVE COURAGE TO
