1. What is science and technology in ancient times?

Technology is using such scientific information for practical

applications, whereas science is all about discovering meaning and
seeking solutions through methodical observation and
experimentation. Together, they significantly affect society
because they make new discoveries and tools that change how
people live. Great ideas, later known as natural philosophy, were
created in some ancient cultures to offer different or possible
explanations for specific events that indirectly affected
technological progress. Agricultural, hunting, and building activities
relied on essential technologies like making tools, plows, and
irrigation systems that helped ancient societies develop and grow.
These early technologies and scientific insights laid the foundation
for future scientific developments and the growth of societies.

2. What historical antecedents gave to the invention of the internet?

The Cold War in the 1960s accelerated the development of
the Internet, as the U.S. needed a communication system amid
tensions with the Soviet Union. Circuit switching methods used to
be slow and often got interrupted. This is why scientists developed
packet switching, which sends data in smaller pieces. This
innovation led to the creation of ARPANET (Advanced Research
Projects Agency Network), designed to withstand nuclear attacks
and is considered the modern Internet's invention. Not just one
person worked on the Internet, but many people did. For example,
Lawrence Roberts led ARPANET, and Tim Berners -Lee created the
World Wide Web. Their work changed how we talk to each other
and get information today.

3. What is the history of science and technology?

The history of science and technology begins in the Ancient
World, where early civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, the
Indus Valley, and China developed agriculture, essential tools,
medicine, astronomy, and mathematics. Aristotle and Plato made
philosophical contributions, while others like Hippocrates made
practical accomplishments in engineering, architecture, and
medicine, building upon these foundations in classical Greece and
Rome. In the Medieval Period, the Islamic Golden Age kept Greek
wisdom alive and built upon it. This had a significant impact on
math, astronomy, and medicine. At the same time, Medieval Europe
came up with new ideas in farming and tools and started schools
called universities. During the Early Modern Period, important
people like Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton changed how scientists
think about things and made technological advances like the
telescope and microscope possible. The Industrial Revolution
brought two game -changing technologies: the steam engine and
textile machinery. These innovations transformed transportation,
communication, and industry, making engineering a respected
profession. Tech advancements gave us electricity, automobiles,
and computers. In the 20th century and after, relativity, quantum
physics, genetics, medicine, and the Information Age caused a
revolution in science and technology.

4. What is the best reason why we study the historical antecedents of

science and technology in your own opinion?
By looking at the history of the events that led to science
and technology, we can really understand how knowledge builds
over time. We learn how past innovations have shaped our present
world and how they continue to influence our future endeavors.
Understanding the successes and failures of past inventions helps
us make smarter choices about where to go with future technology
progress. By knowing how technologies have changed over time,
governments can efficiently allocate funds to support promising
study areas, predict future trends, and deal with new problems as
they come up. With this, we can make policies that encourage
innovation and teamwork between academia and business.

5. Why is science and technology important during the ancient times?

In ancient times, science and technology were the main things
that made people grow. They made it possible for societies to
adapt to their surroundings, deal with problems, and build the
foundations of modern society. Discoveries in agriculture, medicine ,
construction, and information were made possible by observation,
experimentation, and practical application. These have changed the
course of human progress in their unique ways. As discoveries
emerged, they built upon previous knowledge. Thus, the cultu res
were revolutionized, and the quality of life was elevated for
generations. This innovation made people want to learn, kept
society in order, and supported the economy.
