relationships and communication upon carrying your job. Since, Workers
should get along with others. It is essential for them to trust each other in a
workplace for a harmonious working relationship

Close relationship is often called interpersonal relationship. It is a


state of connection through communication. Communication is the basis for a
long lasting relationship. It plays a vital role in reducing misunderstanding that
may lead to broken relationship.

How to Communicate Effectively

1. Watch out your tone and pitch as well. Be straightforward to prevent


misunderstanding.
2. Be watchful on the words you use. A single word can change the meaning of
the entire conversation.
3. Constant communication is very important for a relationship to grow.
4. Be polite. Do not be rude in a conversation. Do not shout. Try to settle
differences in a calm manner.
5. Be a good listener when somebody is talking.
6. Use other ways of communication like emails and cellular phone to reach out
others to fill the gap for a better relationship in a workplace.

Importance of Interpersonal Relationship in a Workplace


1. Workers spend eight to nine hours together. It is impractical to work alone.
2. Decision making is much ideal when done by many.
3. There is a direct effect of interpersonal relationship on the organization
culture.
4. Appreciation from people in the surroundings can motivate a worker from
time to time.
5. It is good to have individuals around us who really care for us.
6. There are urgent assigned tasks that need help from others to be completed
on time.

Factors Affecting Interpersonal Relationship

1. Compatibility - People with different aims, attitudes, thought processes find


difficult to adjust.
2. Communication - Individuals should communicate with each other effectively
for a better understanding.
3. Honesty - Being transparent in a relationship is important.
4. Stay calm - There is nothing wrong to say “sorry”. Do not overreact on simple
things.
5. Forgiving - Do not mind small issues instead, be forgiving. 19
6. Smile - Smile costs nothing. Smile often.
7. Time - Allocate quality time. Frustration arises when people do not have time
to meet or interact with each other.
