As I sit down to write my college application personal statement, I am reminded of the myriad
experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. The journey through high school has
been a tapestry woven with threads of financial vulnerability, leadership skills, social life, sports
activities, academic performance, and spiritual life. Each aspect has contributed to my growth,
offering lessons that have prepared me for the next chapter of my life.
Financial vulnerability has been a constant companion throughout my high school years.
Growing up in a household where every dollar is carefully budgeted has taught me the value of
resilience and resourcefulness. I have learned to prioritize my needs over wants, to find creative
solutions to financial challenges, and to appreciate the opportunities that come my way. This
experience has instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to succeed academically
and professionally, so I can support my family in the future.
Leadership skills have been another cornerstone of my high school experience. As a prefect, I
have had the privilege of leading a diverse group of students and organizing events that bring our
school community together. This role has taught me the importance of communication, collaboration,
and empathy. I have learned to listen to different perspectives, to mediate conflicts, and to inspire
others to work towards a common goal. These skills have not only prepared me for college but have
also ignited a passion for leadership that I hope to carry into my future career.Outstanding leadership
skill personally I introduced first ever solution sphere . this allowed students to express there
views,ideas and complaints. This resulted improvement in the students welfare at Lusaka west
boarding secondary school.
My social life at Lusaka west boarding secondary school has been an integral part of my high
school journey, providing a sense of belonging and support. Through friendships, I have learned the
importance of empathy, understanding, and compromise. My friends have been my pillars of strength
during challenging times, and they have celebrated my successes with me. These relationships have
taught me the value of community and the importance of surrounding myself with people who uplift
and inspire me.
Sports activities have played a significant role in shaping my character and discipline. As a
member of the school soccer team, I have learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and
dedication. The countless hours of practice, the thrill of competition, and the camaraderie with my
teammates have taught me to push my limits and strive for excellence. Sports have also provided a
healthy outlet for stress and have taught me the importance of balancing physical and mental well-
being.
Academic performance has always been a priority for me, and I have worked diligently to
excel in my studies. I have challenged myself with advanced courses, participated in academic clubs,
and sought opportunities for intellectual growth. My academic journey has taught me the importance
of curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. It has also reinforced my belief that education is a
powerful tool for personal and societal transformation.Through hard work in my studies I have
obtained academic awards .Down the lane in my 9th grade at Olympia park secondary school I got the
third best mathematician student over three hundred plus students. This fostered resilience in my
studies which resulted me obtaining distinctions on my 12th grade in the following subjects
mathematics,English,science,biology,civic education,commerce and two merits in principles of
accounts and religious education.Not only that I was also awarded as the best commerce student in
2021 at Lusaka west boarding secondary school.
Spiritual life has been a guiding force in my journey, providing me with a sense of purpose
and inner peace. My faith has taught me the importance of compassion, gratitude, and humility. It has
been a source of strength during difficult times and has inspired me to serve others. Through
volunteer work at my local community center, I have learned the joy of giving back and the impact of
small acts of kindness.
In conclusion, my high school experience has been a multifaceted journey, marked by
financial challenges, leadership opportunities, social connections, sports achievements, academic
pursuits, and spiritual growth. Each aspect has contributed to my development, preparing me for the
challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in college. As I embark on this new chapter, I am excited
