HANDLING OF WASTE

1. Personal Protective Equipment

* Rubber Gloves, goggles and mask.

2. Procedures/ Precautions in handling, packaging, transporting and storage.

* Handle with care during transfer to 200liter drum. Do not lay the container on its side. Avoid prolonged
breathing vapor. Avoid contact eye, mouth and skin. Pack in container without rusty and leaking. Keep
container close tightly. Store in cool, well ventilation place and keep away from heat, sparks and flame.
Prohibited to eat, drink and smoke at the storage area. Always put on the second containment while
temporary store in Production. Full 200liter drum shall transfer to scheduled waste store.

3. Appropriate label
* Labels for the containers should included Date of scheduled waste first generated, name of company,
address of company and telephone number. A dangerous sign as follow should pasted on packing too.

PRECAUTION IN CASE OF SPILL OR ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE

CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY

1. In case of inhalation of fumes or oral intake

* Symptoms of intoxication. – Irritating to respiratory system. Harmful and vomiting may caused if swallowed
* Appropriate first aid – Provide fresh air. Administer artificial respiration if breathing is stopped.
Wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person
* Guideline for the physician – – If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

2. In case of dermal contact or contact with eyes

* Symptoms of intoxication – Irritating to eye or skin

* Appropriate first aid – Flush with large amount of running water at least 15minutes.
* Guideline for the physician – If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE OF SPILL OR ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE

CAUSING MATERIAL DAMAGE ARISING FROM

1. Spill on floor, soil, road, etc. – Clean in with absorbent material and throw in metal container as scheduled wastes.
2. Spill into water - Cover with absorbent material, scoop in to metal container and disposed as scheduled waste. Contain
further spreading of liquids with loose sand, and transfer contaminated sand into suitable containers.
3. Fire – Used fire extinguisher typed foam, CO2 or dry chemical.
4. Explosion - None

Improper handling of SW322 waste can lead to personal injury, such as respiratory, skin, and eye irritation due to exposure. Environmentally, it can result in contamination of soil and water sources, posing risks to wildlife and ecosystems. Proper PPE, handling, and disposal protocols are critical to mitigating these risks .

Dermal contact with SW322 waste can lead to irritation of the skin or eyes. First aid measures include flushing the affected area with a large amount of running water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, medical attention should be sought .

The physical properties of SW322 waste, such as being a liquid at room temperature and insoluble in water, necessitate careful handling and sealing of containers to prevent leakage or spills. Its vapor may irritate respiratory systems, influencing the need for protective gear during handling and transporting. These properties also influence the disposal method, requiring licensed collectors to ensure environmental safety .

SW322 waste should be packed in 200-liter drums and collected by a licensed collector. The drums should be sent to prescribed premises for further disposal to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Scheduled waste should be collected monthly or as necessary .

After exposure to SW322 vapors, the affected individual should be moved to an area with fresh air. If breathing is stopped, artificial respiration should be provided. Medical attention is required if irritation persists after initial first aid .

Storing SW322 waste in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources is crucial to avoid increasing the vapor pressure of volatile compounds, which could lead to exposure risks or even combustion in the presence of sparks or flames .

In case of a fire involving SW322 waste, emergency protocols recommend using fire extinguishers with foam, CO2, or dry chemicals. This is tailored to minimize the potential risks associated with the chemical properties of the waste .

The recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) for handling SW322 waste includes rubber gloves, goggles, and a mask. This PPE is necessary to prevent irritation from potential contact with the liquid, which may irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory system if inhaled .

Proper labeling and documentation are crucial for the safe handling of SW322 waste as they provide essential information such as the date when the scheduled waste was first generated, company name, company address, and contact details. Labels also include dangerous signs which alert handlers to potential risks, ensuring safe storage and transportation to prevent accidental exposure or environmental damage .

To manage a spill of SW322 waste, it should be covered with absorbent material and placed in a metal container for disposal as scheduled waste. On surfaces like soil or roads, the spill should similarly be absorbed and contained. For spills in water, containment can involve loose sand to prevent spreading, and then the contaminated sand should be transferred to suitable containers. These steps prevent both environmental damage and personal exposure to harmful substances .
