2. Analytical Paragraph
A data has been presented showing the changes that have occurred between 1995
and 2010 in Bilaspur regarding the women education.
Women Education
Women education can play an important role in the development of the country. A
survey was conducted in Bilaspur to find out the changes that have occurred between
1995 to 2010 regarding the women education. It was found that there was a rise in the
number of girl’s school. Earlier, in 1995 there were only 10 schools. A slight increase
was seen in the number which rose to 15 in 2010. Not much growth was recorded in
the number of women colleges which rose from three in 1995 to four in 2010.
However, a significant growth was recorded in the number of students in school
which increases from 10,000 in 1995 to 16,000 in 2010. There was a sharp increase of
4000 students in colleges also. The percentage of literacy rate increased steadily from
30 to 55% in these years. There were no Distance Education Centres at the beginning
of the period. However, three such centres were found by the end of 2010. We can
conclude by saying that an overall increasing trend was seen in the women education

3. Diary Entry
You recently visited the 24th Crafts Mela at Suraj Kund, Faridabad. It was Mini
India assembled at one place. Using the hints, make a diary entry of what you
saw and experienced there.

Dear Diary,

The Crafts Mela at Suraj Kund was much more impressive and grander than what I had
imagined. This year the ‘Theme State’ was Rajasthan.
The whole campus was painted with the visuals of Ranthambore, Chittor, Jodhpur and
Jaisalmer. It was Mini India assembled on a few hundred acres of land. All the awarded
artisans from different states had set up their workshops and stalls there.
Many countries, more particularly Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan gave it an international
look. Bangles, jewellery decoration pieces, wall-hangings, purses, shoes, sarees, garments
and cosmetics found thousands of buyers.
Every evening there were cultural shows at the ‘Chaupal’ and the ‘Rangmanch’. The ‘Food
Court’ provided all kinds of delicacies for food-lovers.
Basically, it was India in all its colours, tastes and sounds scattered on the Aravalli hills. That
is all for today.

4. Story Writing
Aradhna started writing a story of ‘Two Boys in a Jungle’. Due to the pressure of heavy
engagements, you gave up, after writing a line or so. Taking help from the input given
below and basing on the introduction Aradhna made, develop a complete story.

Two Boys in a Jungle
Veeru and Karim were young Keralites. The next week their school was going to organise a
camp near a forest in Ponmuddy. The following week they joined the camp.
One day they went out together. They thought of going inside the forest to explore it. Soon
they lost their way. The sun had set. They were walking along the Periyar river. They heard a
loud noise. They stood still and listened to it. They heard the sound of an animal coming
towards them. It was the sound of a big elephant. He was just fifty metres away from them.
The elephant smelled them too. He saw them standing quietly behind an oak tree. He raised
his long trunk up in the air and trumpeted loudly. The boys didn’t move. Veeru was a little
frightened, but Karim was not. Slowly the elephant started coming nearer and nearer. Now he
was only ten metres away. “Let’s do something,” said Karim. “Do it, before he attacks us,”
said Veeru.
Karim pulled out a balloon from his pocket. He put it in his mouth and started blowing into
the balloon. At last, it was blown to the size of a small bag. Karim hit the full- blown balloon
hard with his hand. “Bang-Bang!” The elephant stopped and trumpeted angrily. He was
confused. The elephant turned away and disappeared into the forest. The boys ran and ran till
they reached safe at the camp.

5. Speech Writing
The increasing amount of time spent playing indoor games has been a major cause of
decreasing the outdoor appearance of children. With this concern, write a speech to be
delivered in the morning assembly. You are Parag/Pragati.

Respected Principal Sir, honourable teachers and dear friends,

I am Parag of Class X-D. Today I want to share my views on the topic ‘Indoor games vs.
Outdoor games’. Modern gadgets like computers, gaming consoles, video games and mobile
phones have made us crazy as well as lazy. In our spare time, we can be either seen surfing
the internet or sending SMS on mobile phones. We have forgotten hide and seek, cricket and
football, all of which make us physically active and alert.
Outdoor games strengthen our physique and help us to remain healthy. When we play outdoor
games we grow enthusiastic, we agree and disagree and fight. We make more friends, which
broadens our social circle. On the other hand, when we play alone on computers, we are
damaging our eyes, polluting our minds and turning into couch potatoes which is not good for
our health. Outdoor games inculcate values like team work, coherency and zest for living in
us. On the other hand, playing indoor games only makes us isolated and self-centred.
Considering all these, it can be said that while outdoor games carry joys in their basket,
indoor games do not in any way. So, we should adopt outdoor games and come out to play
them more often.
Thank You.
6. Conversation
Natalya's hand in Lomov's hand and asked them to kiss each other as they were
ready to get married.
Imagine yourself as the playwright of this play and depending on their
characterstics, develop a conversation between Natalya, Chubukov and Lomov if
Lomov had said no for the marriage in the end.
Chubukov: Oh my handsome son! It’s time you give your hand in my daughter's hand.
Let the bells of your wedding ring, my child.
Lomov: I won't deny that my decision, a few minutes ago, was to propose to your
daughter Natalya. But, now I think I would like to change that. I don't think it will work!
Natalya: (crying) Noooo... But what went wrong? Papa and I respect you and your family
a lot Lomov.
Chubukov: (angrily) What do you mean it won't work? You son of a beggar, my daughter
is of such a high class. You don't even deserve her.
Natalya: And I was already going to reject you anyway, you poor child. How can you
think of marrying the daughter of the owners of "Oxen Meadows"?
Lomov: (loudly) Oh Miss Natalya...don't you forget that the "Oxen Meadows" is ours.

7. Presentation Draft
You have been asked to present an evaluation of the approaches of the mothers of
both, the baby seagull and Amanda, towards helping their children. Write this
presentation draft including your insights, in about 120 words, comparing the
approaches of both parents.
You may begin this way:
One acknowledges that both parents, Amanda's mother and the baby seagull's
mother both....however, ...
(Reference -Amanda! & His First Flight)
One acknowledges that both parents, Amanda's mother and the baby seagull's mother,
both love their children and want them to grow up and succeed in life. However, their
approaches towards helping their children are very different. She does not listen to
Amanda's feelings or wishes. She does not encourage Amanda to be herself or to explore
her potential. She makes Amanda feel unhappy and rebellious. On the other hand, the
baby seagull's mother is supportive and Amanda's mother is overbearing and nagging. She
constantly criticizes Amanda for her appearance, behaviour, and imagination. She knows
that her baby is afraid of flying, but she does not scold him or force him. She gently
nudges him to try and gives him positive feedback. She also tempts him with food and
praises him when he succeeds. She makes him feel confident and proud. In conclusion,
one can say that the baby seagull's mother is a better parent than Amanda's mother. She
helps her child overcome his fear and achieve his goal with love and patience. She
respects his individuality and nurtures his growth. Amanda's mother, on the contrary,
hinders her child's development with her harsh and unrealistic expectations. She
suppresses her individuality and stifles her creativity.
The answer has three parts: an introductory sentence, a body paragraph, and a concluding
sentence.
The introductory sentence introduces the topic and the main idea of the answer. It also states
the similarity and the difference between the two parents.
The body paragraph gives two paragraphs that describe the characteristics and actions of each
parent. It also shows how they affect their children's emotions and outcomes.
The concluding sentence summarizes the main idea and gives an opinion or a judgement
based on the comparison or contrast. It also restates the similarity and the difference between
the two parents.
