SCHOLASTIC Please take a few moments to look through the Scholastic flyers with your child. Please make cheques payable to Scholastic Canada. Please send in orders by Friday February 10. REPORT CARDS Report cards for Kindergarten are Checklists. Please remember that Kindergarten is a two year program and the mark assigned is where your child is at this time in the program. All expectations are targeted to be achieved by the end of Kindergarten. SK students are preparing to enter French Immersion next year. If you have concerns, please come and talk with me. Remember we are not a home school, so if you are considering not enrolling your child in French Immersion, we suggest students register at their home school in order to settle and make friends.

100th DAY OF SCHOOL

Can you believe that Thursday, February 9th will be our 100th day of school? To celebrate this milestone, please send your child to school with a collection of 100 items (please ensure it is easy to transport to school, such as pennies or paperclips). We will have the opportunity to look at each collection and count them in a variety of ways (ie; by 10s, 5s, 1s). The Monday Class will have their celebration on Wednesday February 8th.

Valentines Day
I am sending home a class list for your child to fill out Valentines day cards if you wish. We will be making mailboxes in class to place the cards in. The Monday Class will celebrate Valentines day on Monday February 13th.

Borrow a Book
Those students reading their borrowed book each week and returning to get a new one are greatly progressing in their reading skills and confidence. The students are proud to review it with me and I am excited to see growth. Students in Kindergarten are expected to be reading Level C/D books to be considered at grade level by the end of the two year Kindergarten program. Repeated reading is proven to consolidate reading skills, promote fluency and build confidence in young readers. If children are convinced they can read, they will!!! Keep up the great work.
