A solution in an expensive capital city
Japan is a small country with a lot of people. In Tokyo, the capital city, there are over 12
million people. Tokyo is a good place to live because there are excellent schools and very
good jobs. But homes in Tokyi are very expensive.
Some people live in very small houses. They are called “compact houses”. Mayumi
Takayanagi and her parents live in Tokyo. They have got a compact house.
The house has got three levels. On the ground floor, there is a living room. On the first floor,
